  • MindsetMonday with Jenny Smith - 03.06.23

TwoSistas welcomed to today’s podcast on this MindsetMonday, March 6, 2023, Jenny Smith.  Jenny is a Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach.  After a lifetime of struggling with personal symptoms and losing loved ones to chronic diseases, Jenny’s mission has become clear - to help other women in their health.

Her story began at a young age.  Jenny lost both of her parents way too soon.  Her Mom was 52 when she passed and her Dad was 61.  Each of her parents had health issues and this of course weighed heavy on her mind.  (Her Mom had breast cancer and her Dad died of a massive heart attack - he also had diabetes and kidney disease associated with the diabetes.)

It wasn’t until about 5 years ago after she and her husband and family moved to Arizona that she began to “slow down”.  Now slowing down and getting situated in a new State can be a good thing!  Jenny started to feel fatigued and began researching why she felt the way she did.  Because of her Dad’s diabetes diagnosis, she went to a medical doctor to inquire about her blood sugar and A1C.  When she received the news that her blood sugar was at 117 and her A1C was 5.6, she knew she had to take action and be willing to make some critical changes with her health!

And take action - she certainly did!  Being told you have pre-diabetes can be somewhat of a jolt.  Jenny made the connection with her health by furthering her knowledge and decided to follow her course of treatment with a functional doctor.  She then realized of course that pre-diabetes is reversible.  This began her further quest to become a Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach!

From many years of experience in education and social services, switching gears became her passion!  She helps women balance their blood sugar to curb sugar cravings, gain more energy and lose weight without calorie restriction or excessive exercise. She takes a holistic approach to sustainable weight loss and believes food is medicine.  Jenny also coaches her clients to put themselves first because after all, self-are and putting yourself first is not selfish!

  • TriumphTuesday @ Night - 02.28.23

TwoSistas and it’s TriumphTuesday @ Night, Tuesday, February 28, 2023.   We triumph even when the weather sets that gloomy type of day - in the Northeast, our first significant snowfall and it’s all about changing our mindset!  We can take “gloomy” and make our own sunshine!  (Someone was freezing her a$$ off - guess who that was??!!)

Of course a snow day for many including Carroll-Sue’s grandchildren which they thoroughly enjoyed!!  Isn’t it funny - about 20 days until Spring and we are finally getting some snow!  Beware the Ides of March!!  Many have to “triumph” over the gray, gloomy days - let the brightness inspire you!!  Create your own sunshine!!  Mindset is the ignition key - and of course we had to play a quick snippet of the Rocky theme!

A mixed bag of conversation including the mini-series on the Murdaugh Family and our further in-depth conversation about Alex Murdaugh who is on trial for the murder of his wife and son.

Question of the Day:  Do you think that he did it?

  • MindsetMonday with Paul Forchione - 02.27.23

TwoSistas on a MindsetMonday, February 27, 2023, welcome for his 5th appearance, our special guest, Paul Forchione!  Paul is a Mindset / Life Coach and Owner of ACallToAction.com.  Paul is the perfect guest for at any time but of course especially for MindsetMonday!   [Today’s podcast was also simulcasted through the Wisdom Audio App and yes, we had a slight audio glitch and no, we don’t let that stop us!]

Paul’s story continues to evolve and inspire those around him.  Paul shared with us that there are (2) very important things he has learned from his coaching business:  (1) actively listening and (2) empathy.  It’s an art which Paul takes very seriously.  It’s not so much about what or how we hear but intuitively and actively listening.

Paul shared in great detail the art and the how to’s and how creating a safe space for someone to rewrite their story engages them to interact in a way where they feel that they are heard!  Sometimes we interject too quickly because we are so eager to tell our point of view!  Paul also shared some amazing strategies!

We chatted also about the internal dialogue and conversations that we have with ourselves in our mind on a daily basis and unfortunately, some of them are very negative.  The thing is that as Paul mentioned, we would never think to talk to someone else with such negativity yet we do that with ourselves!

Sometimes it’s the negativity that we focus on too much; for instance, Janis shared that sometimes her negativity is fear based.  She shared that she wanted to do a “live” on her personal Facebook page and for about (5) minutes she was having a negative internal dialogue - finally, she had the courage and just did it anyway!

Paul also shared the backdrop of his story.  He was born with cerebral palsy and it was so severe that the doctors told his Mom that he would never be able to walk. Thank goodness for a wonderful Mom and a great mindset that wasn’t his destiny. He was able to overcome it and is now able to live a very active life, however it wasn’t easy to get to at that point.

Paul continues to share his story with his clients to help them overcome obstacles in their lives and to also coach them to rewrite their stories!  We continue to be amazed at Paul's story and his vulnerability and how he helps others do the same!

To learn more about Paul and his services and to connect with him further, please check out his website and his very supportive and interactive Facebook Group:

  • TrendingThursday @ Night with Alison Wheeler - 02.23.23

TwoSistas welcomed to TrendingThursday @ Night, February 23, 2023, and FantabulousFriday, February 24, 2023 for our amazing guest, Alison Wheeler - two different time zones - two different days!  Alison is a true powerhouse in life and business. She is a world-renowned confidence coach, multi-disciplined award-winning performance athlete, and celebrated entrepreneur.  Her success as an athlete and entrepreneur is magnetic, and her presence is real, raw and authentic.

Alison knew, even at an early age with her lemonade stand, that she had that entrepreneurial spirit within her even though she did not realize it at the time.   She did know that she wanted her own money with her own independence.  Being strategically disciplined, this also led her to be involved with high level sports where she learned and embedded discipline where she ultimately achieved her confidence and crushed her goals.   Her confidence soared and as life went on, it became a little hazy and started to lack confidence.  She thought:  “how do you get your confidence back especially when things are hard?”

Having the focus, combined with the right balance of patience plus persistence, with a whole lot of life experience, enables Alison’s clients to take them to the level they only dream of. With Alison’s guidance, the ability to help the clients stretch enables them to reach their potential at a pace that sparks motivation. Sure at times, you might hit a wall, yet she will assist you to climb over it, and leap over the hurdles on the other side.

Alison also stresses that the more money you make the more money you can impact others.  Money is energy and who you are as an individual is going to attract what you desire but you have to put in the work.  The action is where the confidence comes and the resilience in the hard things you can figure it out.  Yes; there are stepping stones and you may stub your toe.  It’s facing that adversity to create that growth.

Resilience, focus and goals - “tie yourself to the goals, not to the vehicle”!

Alison is also a published author, contributor and mentor. She has qualifications in Bachelor of Health Science, NLP trained, many coaching certificates in a multitude of different practices.

  • TriumphTuesday with Louise Hopkin - 02.21.23

TwoSistas welcomed to today’s podcast on this TriumphTuesday, February 21, 2023, Louise Hopkin.  Louise is a Professional Home Organizer creating offerings that are unique and work!  Louise loves to look at the holistic organizing of how you can create space in yourself and your home so you can find the peace and harmony you crave.  It goes way beyond the clutter and starts with our mindset.

How do we organize our thoughts on Mindset?  As Louise stated, Mindset is the first step that is often missed.  Why does it keep coming back?  Louise shared the Top 6 Reasons Why We Collect Clutter [she went into great detail with each reason]:

    Retail Therapy

    Emotions

    Assigned Time

    Sentimental

    Overwhelm

    No Can’t Say It

Clutter also affects our physical health as well.  The mental struggles for many are just that - overwhelming struggles and the blocks that occur from keeping someone from decluttering!  It often stems back to perhaps a traumatic or very emotional event that has occurred in their lives.

There is also a lot of fear associated with “clutter” - the fear of “what if” - Louise waked us through different scenarios with some of her clients and how to gently peel back the layers.  It’s a very complicated and emotional process.

We chatted about the TV show “hoarders” - how can this happen?  Very traumatic for not only the person who is hoarding but for their family as well.  It’s very hard for family members but for their loved ones as well.  The emotions come straight to the forefront.

Louise suggested starting with the easy things first, whatever that might be to you.  It’s really the beginning of a journey of self-love, self-discovery; and unapologetic confidence!

    TwoSistas and it’s WealthWellnessWednesday, February 15, 2023, and it’s Carroll-Sue’s son’s 40th birthday!!  Happy 40th Birthday Michael-John, aka Sweet Pea!

Today’s topic of conversation on this episode can be very sensitive and was centered around mental health.  We want to stress that we are NOT professional medical mental health advisors - our comments and suggestions are personal and our observations only.  Bottom line, it’s okay to ask someone if they are okay.  For those suffering and want to reach out to a non-family member, there is a Suicide and Crisis Lifeline available 24 hours per day.  You can text or dial 988, or to reach them online:

WealthWellnessWednesday is all about creating that ripple effect.   What a way to make someone’s day!
