  • TriumphTuesday and it's our 500th Episode - 08.16.22

TwoSistas and it’s TriumphTuesday @ Night on August 16, 2022 and this is a very significant episode!  We celebrate the 500th Episode!!  That’s a lot of “Cassella Sistas’ Chit Chat”!!  A very brief history of the TwoSistas podcast (we are in the process of preparing our 500th Special Blog and will update once we publish it on our website):

    • May 1, 2020 - Janis to Carroll-Sue - we should start a podcast!
    • May 4, 2020 was our very first episode - “May the 4th Be With You”
    • May 20, 2020 we welcomed our first guest, Kelley Tyan.
    • May 22, 2020 we started a new segment, HomeTown Heroes and our guest was our grand niece, Kaleigh Goodwin.
    • July 24, 2020 - our first night time podcast.
    • January 22, 2021 - our first guest in 2021, Stacie Boyar.
    • January 5, 2022 - our first guest in 2022, Mary Jenkins.
    • There were a lot of laughs, some tears, differences of opinion (which we always respect) and through it all, we have met so many amazing guests from around the world!  We often chatted about sensitive subjects such as politics (well, it does come up in conversation a lot!)

We shared our personal lives, raw, authentic and real.  Our Dad was able to see us in action as we broadcasted live and we shared with our audience the pain we felt when our Dad passed away.  We took breaks from time-to-time and came back always with more to share, always with intent and purpose, always with sharing what we are passionate about - wellness through fitness and nutrition!

Who knows what the next “500” will bring but we do know this:  it will be flippin awesome!

Please go to our website and leave us a voice message - we would love to hear from you!  What was your favorite episode?

    • WealthWellnessWednesday with Courtney McCarthy - 08.10.22

TwoSistas and its WealthWellnessWednesday with our guest, Courtney McCarthy.  Courtney is the CEO & Founder of Loyobo FIT, a virtual community dedicated to helping women to ditch diet culture, find joy in movement, and to finally figure out how to love their body.

Courtney's own journey with health and struggles around body image/weight loss inspired her to become an ACE Certified Fitness Professional. She learned the hard way how broken our views are towards women's bodies and how the formula the fitness industry presents as "the answer" keeps us stuck in a cycle of shame, guilt and self-blame.

Although we experienced many tech / WiFi issues today, we didn't let that stop us.  We continue on and share what we are passionate about!  We may not always agree with a particular point of view or standpoint on a particular issue with wellness in general; it’s always a learning experience and we thank Courtney for having an amazing podcast with such an engaging and enlightening conversation - we enjoyed having you on the TwoSistas Podcast!

    • TriumphTuesday @ Night - 08.09.22

TwoSistas and it’s TriumphTuesday @ Night on August 9, 2022 - the heatwave in the Northeast continues and apparently so does the “political” chaos which certainly adds a lot of stress - this affects our overall wellness!  How we deal with stress can really wreak havoc on how we feel physically and emotionally.  Are we surprised at what is happening?  No.  Is it frustrating?  Yes.

While we are not experts, there are certainly so many things that you can do to ease the stress you are feeling such as:

      *Don’t watch the news.

      *Turn off the news alerts.

      *Listen to soothing music.

      *Journal.

      *Call a friend.

      *Do some breathing exercises.

      *Exercise (don’t forget to hydrate).

      *Meditate.

      *Watch something funny.

      *Organize.

There are so many things that we can’t control but we have the ultimate control of how we react.  Remember to give yourself the time to reflect on how that stress is affecting you; celebrate the wins - that’s a triumph!

What are some strategies you have used when you feel stressed?  What has worked for you?  Share it with us!  Go to our website and leave us a voice message:

    • MindsetMonday - 08.08.22

TwoSistas and it’s MindsetMonday!!  It’s all in the Mindset; how we perceive, how we act, how we react and perhaps the lack thereof.  Part of the mindset practice is just all about the PRACTICE of mindset whether it’s through journaling, reading, personal development and communication skills with others and ourselves.  Mindset chatter can be a very good practice but if we are talking to ourselves in a manner where we are not being kind to ourselves, that could be the outward vibes that we are giving off to others.

Our vibes, our actions (or sometimes inactions) our intentions that we broadcast to the universe will always answer us back.

We would love to hear from you - what are some practices you have established to help you with your mindset - Share it with us!  Go to our website and leave us a voice message:

TwoSistas and it’s FantabulousFriday!!  Ahhh don’t you just love a Friday - well of course, but we love all days!  Friday is Fantabulous because we get to share our goals completed and isn’t that “fantabulous”??!!  Celebrate those wins; congratulate yourself for a job well done!

There may be some goals you may have not been able to complete; congratulate yourself anyways!  The focus should always be the end “goal” and whatever steps you took to your goal should be celebrated!!

Further “Sista” chit chat; (3) kitchens and why Janis will not purchase another stove!

    • TrendingThursday with Clio Stoidis - 08.04.22

TwoSistas and it’s TrendingThursday with our guest, Clio Stoidis.  Clio is a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach whose practice is specifically on gut health.  She coaches women with IBD/chronic digestive issues to reduce their symptoms, regain renewed energy and eat without fear so they can live the life they truly desire.

Clio is a former attorney who became a health coach.  It was through her own journey back to health after being diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2005.  After more than 7 years of trial and error, she experimented with every diet out there.  She felt as though she was on a continuous cycle of flares/no flares/flares.  She finally managed to break free and heal through nutrition and lifestyle approaches.

The experience with her own journey back to health of course had many twists and turns.  As she explained, it was a long journey and she had to do the work to change the narrative.

Food is emotional; it’s not so much about the diet.  It’s about supplying really good nutritious food that will feed the good bacteria.  When we are stressed, the emotional connection to food can be a barrier of our suppressed emotions.

There are many triggers, many which are suppressed through our gut.  When Clio was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease she began doing the inner work.  She listened to the signs her body was giving her.  Reconnect to your gut intuition and seek the medical advice of a specialist who can assist you in this regard.

(Clio gave such amazing advice!  Certainly a long process to go through.  Don’t settle for less than.  Do the inner work; listen to the signs that you are ignoring!)

As Janis and Clio can attest to (both being certified through IIN - Institute of Integrative Nutrition), the original founder of IIN, Joshua Rosenthal once said “ . . . the body can heal itself if given half a chance . . . “

Thank you so much Clio!  Such and engaging and enlightening conversation - we enjoyed having you on the TwoSistas Podcast!

    • WealthWellnessWednesday with Evelyn LeVasseur - 08.03.22

TwoSistas and its WealthWellnessWednesday with our guest, Evelyn LeVasseur.  Evelyn is a Transformational Speaker, #Moderation365 and hormonal fat loss nutrition coach, certified group and personal trainer, and has a specialization in behavior change.

The journey to wellness is a story process.  The process is often a long difficult road and when we arrive at the fork in the road, sometimes we don’t know what path to choose.  It’s through our behavior that we can start the process of changing our wellness not just through fitness and nutrition but through the small things that add up to bigger things such as our “thinking” and the internal dialogue which is often a negative conversation that we have with ourselves.

Evelyn mentioned that acceptance is a key factor in loving ourselves which will help us to navigate toward a healthier lifestyle.  She said that many of her clients “ . . . they equate it with giving up.”  Acceptance is not about giving up!

The overall message is one of “shifting” - shifting our behavior, i.e., the negative chatter.  For instance, Janis shared she cannot be trusted around a bag of chips but every now and then, she will buy them and will often put a few in a small container or baggy.  She chooses to have them at certain times and when she does, she is proud that she has not eaten the hold bag (which she has been known to do.)

Evelyn explained this is a form of “exposure therapy”.  Taking the negative, exposing ourselves and NOT denying ourselves of what we love!

Evelyn is the owner of Evelyn LeVasseur Fitness, a company that focuses on helping busy, overwhelmed moms reach their health goals without dieting or deprivation.  She wants every woman to know she can want to change her body and love it at the same time. Most importantly, she shared that we want our children to grow to be strong, self-loving, and confident, we must be willing to live that way for ourselves. We can’t just wish better for them, we have to show them what happiness looks like.

What does happiness look like for you?

Thank you so much Evelyn!  Such and engaging and enlightening conversation - we enjoyed having you on the TwoSistas Podcast!
