  • WealthWellnessWednesday - Mission Accomplished with Cassandra Geter - 06.29.22

TwoSistas welcomed to today’s podcast on this WealthWellnessWednesday, Cassandra Geter.  Cassandra is a writer, and a health coach and she is on a mission to empower women to manage their chronic illnesses, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and pre-diabetes, and to teach a new healthier approach to food so that they can live better lives.

Cassandra’s story revolves around her own diagnosis.  She was faced with a pre-diabetic condition and was at the point where she would be prescribed Metformin and perhaps Insulin.  She realized that was not the route she wanted to take with her health.  She was very successful in reversing her pre-diabetic condition as well as reversing her high cholesterol naturally.  As an added bonus, she lost weight!

She had faith in her mission and as a Chemist, she decided to study health coaching and assist others with chronic illnesses.  (She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Master of Science degree in Analytical Chemistry. She later received her Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Health and Wellness Coaching from the Maryland University of Integrative Health.)

As a mom and wife, Cassandra understands that life can be busy at times and a bit overwhelming.  She absolutely loves what she does and her mission has never been clearer!

Thank you so much Cassandra!  Your insight and mission to help others is amazing!  To learn more about Cassandra and to connect with her further, please check out her website and other social media platforms:

  • MindsetMonday and it's "Quotable" Quotes - 06.27.22

TwoSistas and it’s MindsetMonday - funny how a quote that you come across on your digital device can impact your whole day, outlook and really can be applied to any situation.  Who said the quote, what the quote actually said and how that pertains to our everyday life . . .

In other news, not watching the news, catching a glimpse and how one little girl’s postured mindset (in our opinion) stood up to a nameless chatter box adult (and we are using this description of the adult in such a way, well, when you listen in, you’ll know who we are chatting about!)

Have you ever seen a glimpse of a quote and it just stuck with you in such a way that you wanted to share it with the world?  What was that quote?  Share it with us!  Go to our website and leave us a voice message:

  • TrendingThursday - It's Clear the "Clutter" Day - 06.23.22

TwoSistas and it’s TrendingThursday!   (Some days you just don’t know when we are going to show up!!!!!)  Sometimes the “trending” aspect of any day is shutting out the “clutter” around us.  News alerts, social media alerts - and the list goes on and on.  Validate your feelings - don’t ignore them, and try to move on.

Moving on for some (ourselves included - yes; we are guilty of this) is often difficult to do.  Is it that we are placing too much emphasis on the action or not reacting at all?  We know that for every action there is a reaction and that’s why it’s important to know that we cannot control everything around us, everything that is happening in the world today.  We can; however, control how we react.  It sounds simple, can be difficult; it’s all in how you perceive or control it.

How are you controlling “it”?  Let us know what you thought of today’s podcast - we would certainly love to hear from you!  Go to our website and leave us a voice message:

  • WealthWellnessWednesday with Jill Bucaro - 06.22.22

TwoSistas and it’s WealthWellnessWednesday with Jill Bucaro!  Jill is the creator of the Wellness Riot.  Wellness Riot is a wellness and lifestyle consulting business providing a simple and personal approach to optimal health.   Today’s topic of conversation revolved around the eating style of children and things to do if your child does not like to eat.  Yes; we said that - if your child does not like to eat.

Jill found herself wanting to learn more about her son’s looming disinterest in food.  She, as any parent, has done (yes, Carroll-Sue and Janis are guilty of this as well), “if you eat your broccoli, you can have that piece of cake.”  We’ve instilled a negative connotation and association with food that our children do not understand.

Through a lot of trial error, Jill explained that there are easy alternative ways to enhance your children’s relationship with food.  For instance, if you are making the brussel sprouts, Jill would often engage in conversation such as “oh my gosh, these brussel sprouts were so good!  I wish I made some more!”  (Just a small snippet of Jill’s point and yes, you have to listen to the podcast to find out more!)

Although many of us have a good relationship with food, some of us have bad experiences with food and the nutrition we supply our body with.  Jill recommends staying away fro foods that contain any additive sugars, food dyes and any type of “processed” food.  The more you stay closer to the source, the better off you will be!

Jill is in the process of preparing for a TedEx Talk and we can’t wait to learn more about her experience on the TedEx stage as well as having her on again as our future guest - we need to chat a lot more!!

Thank you so much Jill!  To learn more about Jill and to connect with her further, please check out her website, Instagram page and join her Facebook group:

  • FantabulousFriday - 06.17.22

TwoSistas and it’s FantabulousFriday!  What do you do when someone invades your personal space?  Janis reflected on a sort of “hot topic” regarding moronic bullying at any age which is NOT appropriate.  We are always in control of how we react and for every action there is a reaction.

We may not know what the other person is going through and how they may react towards us is not a reflection of ourselves but the person who is the “aggressor”.

We also chatted about the gas prices, why we both do not watch the news that much or at all for that matter and why taking yourself out of the equation may be a good thing.

A very Happy Father’s Day this upcoming Sunday to all the Dads!  Let us know what you thought of today’s podcast - we would certainly love to hear from you!  Go to our website and leave us a voice message:

  • WealthWellnessWednesday with Alex Spicer - 06.15.22

TwoSistas and it’s WealthWellnessWednesday with Alex Spicer!  Alex is the anti-diet dietitian who uses intuitive eating to help women heal from disordered eating and chronic dieting. Alex learned at a very young age the effects of heart disease and diabetes.  She herself struggled with an eating disorder and knows first hand how difficult it can be to ditch the dieting mindset and trust your body.

Alex believes in “intuitive eating”.  We put too many rules and restrictions that are associated with food consumption.  As Janis relayed, there is such an emotional attachment to food and that’s where tuning in to what your body is telling you is the key.  Alex’s philosophy is based on what, when and how much to eat.  “Listen” to your body.

Alex coaches her clients on her 3-phase Intuitive Eating process:

Body Image - where do our stories come from?  Accepting ourselves, our bodies “as is”.

Listening - Alex shares her thoughts on mindful eating - this is part of understanding the “why”.  She often asks her clients, what are your signals?

Learning how to nourish your body.  We often put too many restrictions.

Alex also shared her views on fitness from a non-diet lens.  Fitness does not have to be organized and you don’t have to go to the gym for hours.  Get into some type of “joyful” movement.  Take your focus off of weight and calories!

Alex also shared how important it is to surround yourself with communities that support you where you are in your journey.

Thank you so much Alex!  To learn more about Alex and to connect with her further, please check out her website and Instagram page:

  • TriumphTuesday - FLAG DAY - 06.14.22

TwoSistas and it’s TriumphTuesday but more importantly, Flag Day!  We are a very patriotic family and love all that our Flag represents.  We salute the many veterans and their families on this special day!!!  All gave some; some gave All.

What does Flag Day mean to you?  We discussed our feelings and the representations on what Flag Day means to us.  We have certain freedoms and we honor those!  Although some may not have the same outlook on what the Flag represents, it is their right and privilege to not honor the Flag, etc. (such as burning the Flag).

Let us know what you thought of today’s episode.  Also, if you know of a veteran who would love to share their story, we would honor the opportunity to share their story on our podcast!  Please have them reach out to us!  Please go to our website and leave us a voice message:

  • MindsetMonday - 06.13.22

TwoSistas and it’s MindsetMonday!  We may wing it from time-to-time, fake it till you make it; however the perception that we have for ourselves and put out into the universe is often misdirected.  For instance, we all have winged-it at one point or another.  We don’t care too much for fake it till you make it as it already sets the foundation for negativity - it’s as though we send ourselves a message of “I am going to fail before I even begin” so when we fail or don’t make it, we are not that disappointed.

There are also exceptions with fear and fear can be a good thing.  We try something, we are fearful, it doesn’t work out and that’s where the magic can begin if we look at it objectively which might lead us to where we exactly need to be - that’s a good thing!

A chat about “filtering”, being raw, real and authentic and why we won’t be filtering any time soon!
