許多信徒比較不喜歡閱讀舊約的先知書，因為先知書記載了許多責備的話！其實，上帝使用先知們這些嚴厲指責的話語，苦口婆心的勸告，為要呼籲百姓過一個討主喜悅的信仰行為。而這討上帝喜悅的信仰行為的原由，範圍及方式是什麼樣的呢？

Jeremiah is well known today as the weeping prophet. And why wouldn’t he weep? He was called to be the bearer of bad news to his own people. Why would a good God, give bad news? And what does this mean for us, as the recipients and heralds of the gospel?

先知这个职分是耶和华特别的呼召，他们往往在充满罪恶的世代里忠于耶和华的话语，忠于耶和华的命令，也在长期的侍奉中忠心到底。虽然他们在当时的处境里常被人厌弃，被人称为乌鸦嘴，被人称为报恶信的人，甚至被掌权者欺辱、杀害。但先知耶利米以对耶和华的敬畏之心，以及对同胞的怜悯之心，常常为着犹大王和子民的刚硬与罪恶而流泪祷告。他的一生的蒙召和侍奉都充满了艰难和挑战，但他为何能至死忠心呢？透过今天的经文让我们看看有什么属灵功课需要学习？

People have a tendency to abandon the Lord in difficult times, which is not a wise thing to do. Reality is: God’s people experience more temptation to abandon the Lord because people who don’t belong to God don't need to "abandon" Him; after all, they don’t belong to Him in the first place. What happens to us when we abandon God? Is there a reason to abandon God? Why did the Israelites commit this unthinkable act? Let us learn from God’s message to His people through the prophet Jeremiah.
