Are we supposed to follow Jesus in our own individual way, or is there an expectation for a shared communal faith?  In an individualistic culture, we assume that our faith is personal, but this is not how Scripture tells us to live.   The Holy Spirit desires to completely change how we speak, worship, and interact with God within the community of believers.

We all love the wise old master in our movies and stories.  Something about wisdom attracts even the most cynical among us.  I wonder if we have romanticized a misunderstanding of wisdom that places knowledge over action.  Is wisdom purely knowledge or is it better defined by the way we live?

If we are supposed to be a light to the world then it follows that our light must shine in the darkness.  In order for that to take place we must expose the darkness for what it is.  This requires truth and a willingness to stand firm on morality and proper judgment.  The question we must ask ourselves is this, are you prepared to stand in the face of darkness and hold firm to the light of truth?

Jesus was unpopular because he called out sin.  Jesus was unpopular because he said he was the only way to salvation.  Jesus was unpopular because he spoke the truth.
Many believers are afraid to speak the truth of the gospel because it will undoubtedly ruffle feathers, but why are we so afraid of the truth?  Do we not believe that the truth will set you free?  Certainly, it's easier to pander to lies but what are we sacrificing in the process?

If we acknowledge that we should be good people, then we acknowledge that there is a standard by which we judge what is good.  If a standard of good exists then it must come from an objective source which we call God.  With this truth in mind it only makes sense that we must imitate the source of what is good if we aspire to be good people.  How do we do this? How can we properly imitate God?

Can I have "my truth" while you have "your truth", or is there just "the truth"?  Postmodernism has popularized the idea that truth is subjective and absolute truth does not exist. Because of this large swaths of cultures have committed themselves to the belief that truth is whatever the individual wants it to be.   When truth becomes relative then reality becomes relative, when subjective reality becomes the truth we begin to live in a world built on lies.

The freedom we have in Christ is freedom with restrictions, I bet that sounds weird.  It probably sounds weird because we have convinced ourselves that true freedom means we can do anything we desire, but that's not biblical freedom, so what is true freedom and what should we do with the freedom we have been given?
