Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.

“The slave does not remain in the house forever; bthe son does remain forever.

“So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

15"If your brother sins, go and show him his fault in private; if he listens to you, you have won your brother.

16"But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that BY THE MOUTH OF TWO OR THREE WITNESSES EVERY FACT MAY BE CONFIRMED.

17"If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.

18"Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven

19"Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven.

20"For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst."

Mt 18:15-20

Dr. Mitchell finishes our study in Second Corinthians today in 2Cor 13:1-14.

Jesus said:

And Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

"He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.

"If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

"And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself."

But He was saying this to indicate the kind of death by which He was to die. Jn.12:23-26, 32-33

Dr. Mitchell is in 2 Corinthians 12 verses 11-21 with the apostle Paul's continuing defense of his ministry.

Jesus Says:

"You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you.

"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.

"I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

"If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned.

"If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask what you will, and it will be done for you.

John 15:3-7

Dr. Mitchell continues Paul's defense of his ministry speaking about a man in Christ and God grace toward him, 2Cor.12:1. 

Jesus Says:

25 “It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household!

26 “Therefore do not fear them, for there is nothing concealed that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known.

27 “What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops.

28 “Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

29 “Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.

30 “But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31 “So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.

32 “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.

33 “But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.  Mt.10:25-33 

Dr. Mitchell continues the study of 2 Corinthians 11 at verse 12 with Paul's warning concerning false teachers and also numerous evidences of his gospel ministry.

The Lord Jesus said

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. 

16 You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? 

17 So, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 

18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 

19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 

20 Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.

21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 

"For this is the will of My Father, 

that everyone who beholds the Son 

and believes in Him will have eternal life, 

and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."

Mat. 7:15-21, John 6:40

With Paul's great love and concern for the church at Corinth he would not have them led astray from Christ Himself. Here is Dr. Mitchell with our study in 2 Corinthians 11:1.

17 The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”

18 And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning.

19 “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.

20 “Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.”

21 At that very time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said, “I praise You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.

 22 “All things have been handed over to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” Luke 10:18-21

Our study begins in 2Cor 10:5 with Dr. Mitchell explaining Paul's constancy.

The Lord Jesus said:

All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Mt.11:27-30

Dr. Mitchell continues our study in 2Cor 10:1 with Paul's appeal to the Corinthians with the meekness and gentleness of Christ.

Mark 8:35-37

The Lord Jesus Said:

For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and for the gospel will save it.  What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

Jhn 15:13

"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.

Mt.16:21

From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.

Mark 8:35-37, John 15:13, Mt.16:21

Jesus said:

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

 “So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 

 But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 

4 so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 

20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 

21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Mt 6:1-4, 19-21
