Trouble started brewing for Future Coupon and Future Retail in March this year when the companies received notices from their lenders about possible defaults. While the Group was in discussion with Amazon until August to find a new investor, Kishore Biyani announced a deal with Reliance Retail. This set off flurry of mails between Amazon the Future Group. 

Meanwhile, media reports claimed that the Future Group was in talks with Reliance with a view to selling its retail and supply chain business.
