We’re talking about bone health and the best ways to prevent injury (20:44). We learn that a lot of the health issues we may face later in life can be prevented by eating healthy and exercising. • Transform Your Mind with Sydney Zeller
Like, rate, and leave a review on Apple Podcasts! (https://apple.co/2Nq9und) Follow Unfit on Instagram (https://bit.ly/3hxTUnD). We’re back at it again with our new friend, Sydney Zeller! Syd is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, student, entrepreneur, and influencer with a growing audience of over 148K Instagram followers (14:22). As a high school student, Syd fell into fitness as a social activity with her sister (16:31). At the start of 2018 she launched @sydprogress–and things have grown exponentially since then. What we love about Syd is her realistic approach to fitness. It’s okay and common to have aesthetic fitness goals, but it’s also okay to learn, grow, and change them over time. In her transformation posts, Syd often points out how much her mindset has changed from one picture to the next (33:42), and she works hard to integrate this mental shift in her coaching. Syd explains the meaning behind the butterfly symbol she has tattooed on her arm and printed on her merch (46:52), then we plan our post-pandemic trip to visit her in Vancouver. Sam also promises to get a tattoo of the Unfit logo if the pod blows up. All the more reason to Subscribe. A huge part of being an athletic trainer is being prepared for literally anything, and Chris shares his “Seven P’s of Life” (34:32). When we went to college with Chris, he was often studying in the library. We’re so proud that all his hard work has paid off! • Connect with Your Pelvic Floor featuring Kim Vopni, The Vagina Coach
Like, rate, and leave a review on Apple Podcasts! (https://apple.co/2Nq9und) Follow Unfit on Instagram (https://bit.ly/3hxTUnD). This week we got an episode for the ladies. We sat down with Kim Vopni, a certified personal trainer and pelvic floor coach (11:21), to chat all about pelvic health. Kim debunks some misconceptions about what can happen to your pelvic floor as you get older, and she makes a strong argument for seeing a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic health at least once a year, like you would go to a routine dentist appointment (18:08). As you can probably guess based on this episode’s title, there is more to pelvic health than simply “doing kegels.” And the truth is, there’s a good chance you’re doing kegels incorrectly! We definitely were. Kim delivers some cues and a couple different visual examples to help us make sure we’re doing kegels the right way (34:50). Try to see if you can connect to your pelvic floor while listening to this episode, and let us know if Kim’s cues worked for you. Check out these videos on Kim’s YouTube channel for more: How To Do A Kegel Correctly (https://bit.ly/3r1Nf97); The Core Breath (https://bit.ly/36iVF3W). • Unfit Update: Work In Progress with Ian Stone and Brandon Schneider
Like, rate, and leave a review on Apple Podcasts! (https://apple.co/2Nq9und) Follow Unfit on Instagram (https://bit.ly/3hxTUnD). Happy Unfit Friday! This week we caught up with Brandon Schneider and Ian Stone, two of our friends whom we recorded with in 2020. Scroll back through our feed to listen to each of their episodes. After we recorded with Brandon in July, he started experiencing some stomach pain and gastrointestinal issues (13:20). He set out to make a few major dietary changes while building a team of doctors who could help him solve the problem, rather than just treat his symptoms (17:54). This proved to be no easy task. Since recording with Ian, he went back and listened to his episode, identifying some behaviors and mindsets he wants to change in the future (36:42). In 2020, we rebranded ‘exercise’ to be ‘movement,’ as of this episode, we are rebranding ‘goals’ as ‘intentions’ (1:03:26). Reframing a goal as an intention is sometimes all it takes to shift your mentality and actually accomplish what you set out to do. Check up on Brandon (https://bit.ly/3o3yRez) and Ian (https://bit.ly/2ZKp9oi) by sliding into their DMs. We’re the guests on this week’s episode of Curry Fever! Listen on Spotify (https://spoti.fi/2M9dviD), Apple Podcasts (https://apple.co/39Pdk4l) or wherever you get your podcasts.
