Workplace boundaries are vital for healthy professional relationships and individual well-being. This podcast defines boundaries as the limits of professional interactions, responsibilities, and behaviours. Establishing boundaries is essential to prevent burnout, enhance mental health, and improve job satisfaction. Ask me, I burnt out in 2019.
Clear communication, assertiveness, and consistency are vital when setting and maintaining these boundaries, which include physical, emotional, time, workload, and communication limits. You must identify your limits, set realistic expectations, and enforce these consistently, seeking support when necessary.
Let’s advocate for a "good enough" approach to goal setting and self-care, especially for those of us recovering from burnout. I emphasise self-compassion and realistic expectations, illustrating this with examples of daily routines and exercise.
