Original source is known as "New Destinations" from the SNES game "E.V.O.: Search for Eden", or "The Coast" from "46 Okunen Monogatari ~The Shinka Ron~" (the PC-98 prequel that is not that well known in the western).

STORY / BORING WALL OF TEXT:
February was "Animal Month" in the monthly videogame music contest of Pixel Mixers. That is: any tune that is linked to an animal character or in game whose main protagonist is an animal.
Technically this allows a wide variety of tunes including Guile's theme from Street Fighter or Tifa's theme from Final Fantasy VII, since humans are animals, too (mammals specifically). However, I preferd to rely in non-human animals instead.
And well, at this point anyone familiar with my stuff knows my interest in 90s obscure games, mostly SNES JRPGs. And so I though of E.V.O. (originally "46 Okunen Monogatori" in Japan). A weird and unique game where you basically travel all around time since the beginnings of time being a primitive fish in the sea, eventually a dinosaur, a birb or a mammal and... who knows, maybe someday a human too. Basically the theory of evolution combined with fantasy elements.
The game itself is also a very interesting mix of platforms with JRPG elements. You kill and eat others to get "EVO points" you use to evolve individual parts of your body (jaws, tail, neck, dorsal fin, horn, etc). Such changes are not just a matter of stats but may also change your creature's aesthetics and shape drastically, allowing a large variety of combinations.
Amphibians aren't most popular non-human animals ever and the tune of choice might be not the greatest either. But I'm familiar enough with this game and its music to know its potential and so I soon started tinkering with a bunch of ideas in my mind based in the game's plot. More specifically the fight agaist the evil bees.
It's kinda curious, however, how this game was made in the 1990s and bees are the evil ones ruining the environment, devouring the plants until what used to be green plains becomes a desert. Yet nowadays in the real world, bees are pretty much endangered and the planet's safety is seriously affected by the lack of them in a negative way.
I already ruined the underwater / fish theme once in 2022 and... not gonna lie; the idea of making an album full of E.V.O. arrangements is in my mind. Maybe in the next chapter...
Anyways, with no more interesting things to say... just listen and enjoy this! Or suffer it, and share with your enemies to hurt their erars. Or whatever.
