Joe, my biological Dad, is half of my origin story. So much of my life and who I’ve been up to this point has revolved around his life and decisions. He was incarcerated when I was 9 and for 21 years I held my breath waiting for the new reality when my Daddy got home. Little Bionca’s mantra was “All will be right in my world when my Daddy gets home.”
That turned out to be true but not at all in the way I dreamed or imagined. But finally, all is right in my world. Unpack with me as I close the book of my origin story, take the pen, and create my own.
Joe.- Part 2.

This isn’t a topic I expected to unpack right out of the gate. I don’t think much about the role of submissive women in romantic relationships. By definition, I don’t describe myself as a submissive person. Am I nurturing and caring? Absolutely, but not submissive. Words matter. Lovers and Friends podcast hosted a fantastic interview about submissive women that sparked the latest wave of conversation around the Internet and this episode. The joy of these conversations is realizing the parts you can take away for yourself.
Tap in and unpack with me. I would love to hear your perspective.

I'm sure we've all seen the viral tweets about if people should be paying bills 50/50 or not in a relationship. I've seen and heard a lot of perspectives around everything but one of the main reasons...money. Is the push-back really principle or a lack of resources? I'm just asking because I know how ya'll like to tussle! I've been working hard on being the opposite of hyper-independent so the 50/50 Club is closed for me, honey!!
Tap in and let's unpack.
They say you can tell a lot about a woman by how she cooks rice and by how she shows up in the world. In this episode, we unpack Rice Lessons. Rice Lessons started as an inside joke about how I wanted to buy a rice cooker because I literally could not cook rice. It later turned into a life lesson about showing up as myself, unapologetically. For most of my life, I've been trying to prove my worth and value to everyone but me. Healing is a journey of collecting new tools and perspectives and applying them.
Join me as I unpack Rice Lessons: You ain't got shit to prove to a pot of rice or a n*gga neither.
I would love to hear about your Rice Lessons, email me at [email protected]
Greetings! It’s your homegirl in your ear, returning from my hiatus. A lot of life has happened and I’m ready to Unpack My Shit! Music is therapeutic so it’s only right we start an episode inspired by new music. J Cole dropped Off-Season and it didn’t disappoint, as we knew it wouldn't! Pride is the devil is one of my favorite records on the album for many reasons but we’ll explore the lyric:
Pride be the reason for the family dichotomy
Got uncles and some aunties that’s too proud to give apologies
Slowly realizing what the root of all my problems be
It got me feeling different when somebody say they proud of me
Thank you for welcoming me back into the fold. I got some shit to say. Tap in and turn me up in your ear.
Consider this a belated birthday gift from me to you!
Thank you for welcoming me back into the fold. I got some shit to say. Tap in and turn me up in your ear!!
It’s been a minute, I know! I took a little break but I’m baaaaacccckkkk!! I’m refreshed, focused, and ready to unpack my sh!t! In this episode, we catch up on life, love, career, and relationships. I won't hold you in the description for too long, I've been gone long enough! Tap in, and let’s chat and unpack.
Also, most importantly…
VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! The last chance is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Validation: Recognition or affirmation that a person or their feelings or opinions are valid or worthwhile. Every episode so far has included someone else's bag but this one is MINE. It's hard to have this conversation with myself, even before I turn on the mic. I have had unhealthy attachments for a long time, specifically attached to the need for approval and validation. I have had a bad habit of taking the most difficult route to lessons. The road is long, but the beauty is in the journey and process. Enjoy the roses along your path to growth while you can. The Universe, God, Jesus, is working for you, not against. I know nothing that is for you will miss you. But you can create unnecessary hardships, delays, and obstacles. Let’s stop creating those barriers together. Tap in!
What are you unpacking? I would love to hear from you! Email me at [email protected]
I recently engaged in a conversation online that encouraged me to analyze and unpack my unhealthy association with vulnerability as it pertains to Black men. I am learning how to build and maintain a space where our men feel safe to be raw, soft, and emotionally vulnerable. I invite you to join me. This is a quick episode because as Amanda Seales says, the truth don’t take long to tell. Tap in and join me!
