Rebecca shared the story of trusting her gut and following her instincts that helped her to continue to advocate for answers and unlock the missing pieces in her own physical and mental health journey. Rebecca is a talented jewelry designer and honest mama who creates pieces to remind other women of their worth. Rebecca shares her life story of becoming a mom, entrepreneur and mental health advocate. She takes us through some of her life lessons and how she has chosen to share on social media her personal health journey in hopes of helping people trust their gut and not give up.

This week on Unpacked we are chatting with guest Alex Cameron, Psychotherapist with a Masters of Social Work at his own practice. Alex returns to chat with us about depression. Alex has a wide and varied wealth of professional experience. He was the coordinator of a provincially funded domestic violence counselling program that focused on males that had been the primary victim of violence from another. During this time, Alex also worked with perpetrators of violence in both group and individual counselling of both genders. We chat with Alex about his life and lessons he has personally had to keep learning and unlearning. With a unique instagram handle the @thetattooedtherapist he shares how representation is important for men in therapy and regularly works with both men and boys to overcome toxic masculinity. Alex shares his perspective with us on the official definition of depression versus low mood. The common signs and symptoms, what it looks like to care for a loved one or friend who is struggling and how we can be more aware of the boundaries in caring for someone with mental health struggles. Alex specializes in anxiety, depression, stress, and relationships.

With roughly 80 percent of Rising Tide’s workforce consists of people with autism Tom has taken his experience building a thriving non-traditional workforce and combined research and lessons in his new book The Power of Potential (HarperCollins Leadership 1/24/23). Tom shares what life was like growing up, his decision to start an inclusive business environment that embraces diversity and gives practical tips for business owners to start the change today.

Karen shares how with the help of good friends, a trusted counsellor and her faith she worked through denial and years of pain to find healing. She shares how the tool of the enneagram has been important to her own self awareness work, and the growth of her clients. Karen helps her clients to be brave and do the work so they can find freedom in remembering what happened, but you won't feel the pain anymore.
