Episode 83 - Victim or Victor
Today, we're diving into a topic that holds so much power over our lives – and it’s the stories we tell ourselves, about ourselves. It’s so powerful to me that it’s absolutely profound.
I was just talking with a very dear friend of mine that has been living with MS for the past 23 years of her life and she always says the this one mantra that she lives by and that She is not a Victim – she is the Victor!
Every single time it blows me away – because it reminds me how powerful our inner narrative is and how it becomes our outer narrative.
Did you know that you are the author of your own narrative of your life? So today I’m going to explore how reshaping our stories can transform us from victims to victors."
Think about it - your life is a collection of experiences, and how we interpret these experiences becomes our story. But here's the fascinating part - we have the creative liberty to choose which parts of our story to emphasize. So many timeswe focus on the challenges, the heartaches, and the setbacks, and in doing so, we cast ourselves as victims in our own life story. But what if we shifted our focus?"
"Consider this: every experience, whether seemingly positive or negative, holds within it valuable lessons and moments of inner strength. Even in our darkest times, there are glimmers of light, moments of resilience, and lessons that shape us.So, why not redefine our stories by highlighting these gems?"
"Imagine a life where we only narrate the highlights, where every obstacle was a stepping stone, and every setback was a setup for a comeback. When we focus on the strength we gained from our challenges and the wisdom we acquired from our struggles, our self-perception undergoes a radical shift."
"What if you approached your story like a movie script, highlighting the moments of triumph, the moments where you overcame odds that you feel were stacked up against you, and the times when your resilience shone brightly?
I think about my own story. I always told it like I just led a life of struggles until one day I heard this concept that I could tell whatever story I wanted to and I was like “What?” I can tell it however I want? It blew my mind – I never knew – why didn’t someone tell me?
And by doing that, I not only acknowledge my own power but also inspire others to find strength in their struggles." It literally changed my life – I never looked at it the same again.
Except for when I’m arguing with my mom, somehow, I revert right back to being 15. HUH?
"The transformative power of reshaping our narrative is profound. It elevates our self-confidence, banishes self-doubt, and empowers us to embrace our inner victor. When we focus on our strengths, the lessons we've learned, and thecourage we've displayed, we become the architects of our destiny."
So, for all of you listening to this message: Here it is - You have the pen in your hand, and the story you write is entirely up to you. It's not about denying our challenges, but rather, it's about reframing them, extracting the wisdom, andacknowledging our growth. Embrace the power of your story and step into your role as the hero of your own journey."
"So, as we wrap up today's episode, I want to leave you with this empowering thought: you are not defined by the challenges you face, but by how you overcome them.Embrace the strength within you, focus on your victories, and watch as your life transforms. If you're ready to embark on this journey of self-discovery, I invite you to take the first step. Rewrite your story, and in doing so, transform from a victim to a victor."
