It seems to be all we’re talking about these days...and for good reason. Almost no part of daily life hasn’t been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. Many of us feel ourselves unraveling as we’ve lost count of things we take for granted that are now anything but certainties, both for the present and, even more troubling, for the future.
This has meant something different for each of us...some of us grieving, scared, angry, or feeling like we’re just going crazy. We share what the last few weeks have brought each of us, and how we’re navigating our own unique challenges.
And yet, even more challenges emerge as we human beings grapple with something as unfathomable as a global pandemic, and seek to provide explanations. So often, it’s the steady diet of quick, cookie-cutter, bumper-sticker explanations so many of us were raised on in the Church that eventually leads to an uncomfortable unraveling in our faith, but one that can lead beyond the empty platitudes and into something so much greater...if only for the fact that it’s something that’s actually real. In this first episode, COVID-19 and the ways many Christians have understood and reacted to this crisis serves as the launching point into topics we’ll certainly return to throughout this podcast, about how some forms of Christian faith and teaching can lead us to claims that eventually cause a problem for us, and need to be re-examined.
Also, Pete is apparently a little sensitive about his age.
