Conversations with Friends episode 28 is a conversation with my friend and sistren, Cristi Farrar. Cristi and I met online a couple of years ago and I am really happy we stayed open to building and got this convo in!

Cristi is a free spirited, unschooling mama and entrepreneur that is here to shine a light for us all. My friend and I connected through our shared passion for raising free children. We started communicating around unschooling and planned on having a podcast convo on homeschooling and being a business mama at the same time. We go into these topics on today's show, though in between our plan and the actual recording of this episode, Cristi was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer. AND to make it even more aligned, our 1st episode was lost in podcast recording magic world and we had to record this show twice! Best part was the 1st recording she was still receiving chemo, today's recording her treatment is wrapped up and a new normal is beginning to develop for this super powerful mama!!!

I am honored and grateful to be able to share her voice, story and pure inspiration with you all today! Cristi, mama, thank you for sharing your time, heart, passion and practice with me and the audience of the show. You are motivation in the flesh love! I am so excited to see where the next phase of your life journey takes you and your family. I will be watching and cheering and congratulating you along the path friend! Conversations with Friends Episode 26, is a conversation with my friend Jah Sun Kine, though I call him Jason :) 

Jason and I met in college in San Diego in the early 2000's. I am super grateful to still have my friends energy and influence in my life and to be able to share the frequency of our most recent conversation with you all.

Today's show is the 1st of 2 episodes that Jah Sun and I are sharing. We had some catching up to do, so this 1st episode Jason shares his background and the things that have molded him. We also reminisce about our early days as friends on campus and the real why's of our lasting bond. Jason and I studied in the Africana Studies department of SDSU and shared many defining moments together during these years. We were becoming the humans we are today and I am honored to reflect this truth in part 1. 

Jason is one of the friends of my life that has made a deep impact on my ability to see the rebel in me. My gratitude for standing side by side with my friend lasts lifetimes and I still recall on the lessons of our unique connection. Jason, friend, you are a part of my structure and I will forever hold our close times near to my heart. I felt like I could really change the world with you in my life. And I STILL feel this sharing of energy over time and distance.

Conversations with Friends episode episode 25, is a conversation with a new friend and super powered soul Akilah S. Richards. I have followed Akilah for the last few years as an ally of the unschooling movement and was so grateful and excited when she agreed to sit and have a chat with me to share with you all!

Akilah is a Certified Family LIfe Educator, self-defined digital nomad, podcaster, author, blogger and does it all with her unschooling family by her side. She is also a super deep and conscious soul, here to help support the freeing of bodies and minds from the constructs of colonization. 

I first came across Akilah's work through her podcast, Fare of the Free Child https://akilahsrichards.com/podcast/ and have since been introduced to the many great works Akilah has committed to contributing to the unschooling community and the society at large. This mother of 2 unschooling youth, is walking her talk and I am truly honored to be able to share her energy with the show!!!

Conversations with Friends Episode 24 is a conversation with 2 of my friends and sistren, Ally and Nkisi Piro. Ally, Nkisi and I met through mutual friends right after my family left the desert about 5 years ago. Due to the amazing abilities of connection that social media gifts us all, these ladies and I have kept in touch over the years and developed a natural bond regardless of time or space. When we returned to the desert last year, I was super excited to meet these souls in the flesh and continue to grow our bond.

Today's episode is a conversation with both of my friends, so we get to hear a little bit about both Ally and Nkisi separately and as a couple. Individually, they are both studied and practiced energy and food healers and are committed to creating balanced and well lifestyles for their home and their community. As a team, they co-create some of the most beautiful meditative spaces I have been in (well I only got to visit once this last year, though I can now see clearly what they really got going on :) Using the ancient practice of sound healing through Yoga Nidra, these sistren have helped align many bodies throughout the valley. I asked Nikisi if she would be willing to share some of her healing energy with us on the show, so make sure you stay tuned after the 1st segment for a short and powerful sound meditation with Nkisi!

These 2 women consciously inject the environment they are in with understanding, patience and love. I appreciate how their fire works together, pushing one another to never give up on achieving higher versions of self.  I appreciate having their energy and support in my life and here with my family as we settle back into desert life. Many wonder who would move to a waterless, dry and hot place like the desert. Let me tell you, some really interesting and direct humans that wish to learn what sustainability and community is really all about. In the desert you need one another to make it through the extreme times. I am thankful my friends, that you 2 are a part of my team. Truly, the way in which you share your own path of self realization is needed in our community! Charging your work on sistren!!!
