Unsigned518

Wolfgang and Louie, the founders and organizers of AP Live, stopped by the Dazzle Den recently to tell me all about their music festival that takes place in Averill Park. We talked about the origin of the event, the planning that goes into it, and what the attendees can expect. I think it is a really cool festival, that is put together by two forward-thinking, driven and hard-working teenagers.

Welcome to the Unsigned Unwind. This show is an attempt to gather great local music from all over the US and Canada, have a brief conversation with the band/musician and play one of their songs. My goal is that local-music enthusiasts, such as myself, can discover great local music that otherwise may have remained hidden to them. Ultimately, I would love to have local bands from different areas not only get to know each others music, but play shows together and really build a community.

This show is all about discovery. Not just yours, as a listener, but mine as well. The way the show operates is our showrunner, Angela Tourangeau schedules guests for me to talk to. I am not given any information about who I will be speaking with beforehand, just a name and a phone number. This way, as I find out where they are from, what their bands name is, what kind of music they play, influences, etc, you will be finding out right along with me.

I hope to have all genres, and from all over the US and Canada. If you are interested in coming on the show, or having a member of your band come on the show, send an email to [email protected]

On this episode, I will be speaking with Nick Firth of Minor Side FX out of Detroit, Michigan.

Members of the band The Hauntings, Ben Rescott and John Suloman, stopped by the Dazzle Den to discuss Uncle Brother Fest: Uncle Brother Goes To Space, which is their annual one-day fest.

The story of what Uncle Brother Fest is, and how it began is so unique, cool, and interesting that I don't want to give anything away here. You'll just have to listen to the epispode.

You'll also have to go to the event.

While the name Jupiter Queen may be new, the members are certainly not new to the scene. Jupiter Queen has a brilliant garage-rock energy that is propelled by tight songwriting and solid musicianship. On this episode Jupiter Queen, in a first for Unsigned518, set up and played just like they were at a club gig. While I've had some acoustic performances in the Dazzle Den, having a full band at full volume, was really cool! So, check out Jupiter Queen and listen to them blow the walls of the Dazzle Den in the first live rock performance on Unsigned518.
