Unsigned518

I had never met Jay Mullen before, but am good friends with his older brother, James (Seize Atlantis, James Mullen and the Strangers), so it was high-time that I had Jay on the show as he is really starting to make a name for himself in the 518 and beyond. Jay has got soulful and smooth songwriting chops, as is evident in the 2 songs that he plays live on this episode. Whether he is doing solo shows or playing with a band, you can catch Jay performing in the 518 as well as across the lake in the Burlington area of the 802. Get to know Jay Mullen on episode 126 of Unsigned518.

I recently got the chance to speak with Lucas Garrett about his orgins in making orignal music. We talked about his first guitar, and how his playing evolved from learning others music, to crafting and recording his own. We also discuss how the people and friendships in our local scene have played a part in his career, not only as a musician, but as a music journalist with a sharp focus on local music. We also talk about his musical collaborations with tons of great 518 musicians. Get to know Lucas Garret on episode 125 of Unsigned518.

Black Tongue Reverend are back on Unsigned518. Their first time on, they only had a couple of songs and had played just a handful of gigs. 2 years later and they are a powerhouse in the 518 scene, with dozens of shows under their belt, an EP, and a full-length. I sat down with Eric and Mike and we discuss what the band has been up to since their first visit. So, check in with BTR on episode 124 of Unsigned518.
