Dave has been around the 518 for a while now. You may know him from The Blisterz or his outfit Watch Reggie Run, kids' music that adults can enjoy. Dave's newest venture, Dave Graham and the Disaster Plan, is releasing original music and just put out an album of 518 covers called "Appreciate the 518". On those covers were songs from Black Cat Elliot, E.R.I.E., and my band, ShortWave RadioBand. We talk about how that came about and Dave's hyper-enthusiasm for local music. Not only have I known Dave and John for years, but they are also the ones who crafted the super-sweet theme song that you will hear at the beginning of the episode. They are also both great guys. Dave has appeared on the episode a couple of times and John and I had recorded an earlier episode that, for several reasons, never aired. John and Dave now make music under the moniker simplemachine and many of you are probably familiar with their first singles "Unbroken" and "Ingloria". Kristian's story is an interesting one for sure. After making a name for himself in the Boston music scene, life steered him in a different direction and he took an 18 year hiatus from music. A few years ago he dove right back in with a unique and infectious sound that was all his own. He has put out several full length albums of originals in just a few years and has another one, produced by Andrew Koss, coming out later this year. On this episode Kristian plays a song off the new album, live in the Dazzle Den and plays an as-yet-unreleased studio track off the upcoming album. Brian is a true punker, in my opinion. He lives it and breathes it. He is in Death Cult Pharmaceutical as well as Lex Naturalis, his solo project, But not only does Brian make his own music, he is very instrumental in helping the music scene in general. He has been putting together band showcases at local venues, including one where my band ShortWave RadioBand played at and his passion and enthusiasm helps him have successful gigs, So, check out Brian Cirillo on Episode 79 of Unsigned518.

 

Kristina has been making and performing music for most of her life. She has already done so much professionally that I would not be surprised if she became not only nationally known, but internationally as well. Her tightly crafted songs will get into your head quickly, with the only way to get them out, being to listen to them on repeat. I found myself humming the tunes for days after our conversation. I had been familiar with Camtron 5000 for a little bit and like a lot of my guests, it took a little bit for our schedules to align. I finally had a chance to meet Camtron at the Eddies and a few weeks later he was on my show. Get to know the origin story of this unique individual, who has a seemingly endless supply of song ideas and styles. We talk about how he got started and how it has led to Camtron 5000 getting a spot on Alive at 5's Hip-Hop night, opening for the legendary Rakim, to him being a featured artist at this year's Nipperfest. I recently sat down with Aaron of The Snorts after playing a show with them at The Fuze Box. The Snorts play fast punk songs that have an "aggressive positivity" to them and I convinced Aaron to play a few of them in the Dazzle Den with an acoustic guitar. Up and coming 518 hip-hop artist, Cir Red stopped by the Dazzle Den recently and we talked about how he got started in the music game and where he expects it to take him. He has recorded and collaborated with some pretty big names and I think you will be hearing his name on the National level soon.
