We go into the history of the band, including how the band is made up of two sets of brothers. We discuss their approach to making music and learn a little bit about each member and how their dynamics help shape Ferriday's sound.
We talk about how their latest album came out right as the World was shutting down and we discuss their return to performing live again.
This episode was originally scheduled to air in July but was moved up to help promote Ferriday playing a show with Headless Relatives and my band, ShortWave RadioBand at Putnam Place this Saturday, June 25th. We hope to see you there, supporting local music!
New to the 518, New Haven, CT native Sabrina Trueheart has certainly made her presence known. Her EP "Holding Onto Something Good" has received airplay on WEXT, WEQX, Nippertown Radio, and more. She has already been booking gigs at some of the more esteemed venues and her star continues to shine brighter by the day.
We talk about Sabrina's path through music, from her early days to a College-era hiatus and to her decision to put her focus back on making original music. We also discuss how she moved to the 518 in part, due to her research of the area and supportive music scene. Sabrina also performs two songs off of her amazing EP "Holding Onto Something Good" live in the studio (a first for Unsigned518!). She performs both the title track and "Two Of Us".
So, meet Sabrina Trueheart and be sure to go see her live. She is an amazing talent and the 518 is lucky to have her.
I go back to Jive Hive Live, which is where Episode One was recorded. This time, instead of just talking about Mikey's band The Sugar Hold, I sat down with Mikey and Alec of Jive Hive Live to talk about the venue. JHL is a live performance venue that sits behind a private residence and is designed for live streaming, live performance and live recording, among other things. JHL is also different in that the only way to play there or attend a show there is to be invited.
Mikey and Alec talk a little about what is going on at the Hive, what bands are scheduled to appear, as well as some of the more technical aspects of what JHL offers. We also play some tunes that were recorded live at JHL. There is a song from "The Greetings" as well as one from Carl Blackwood's project "Run Rabbit Run". RRR is a Pink Floyd tribute show including Dark Side Of The Moon in it's entirety among other Floyd hits.
Peach Misfits is just one person, Ian Burrington. Ian writes the songs and played everything on the EP, except the drums. We talk about his inspiration and how long music has been a part of his life.
We also discuss Ian's desire to find other musicians to round out Peach Misfits, so that it can be a full band and not just him. So, if you are a 518 musician, looking to join a band, take a listen and you may just find a musical connection with Ian Burrington of Peach Misfits.
