Unsung Horrors

For a deep dive into the Ramsay brothers' Purana Mandir, we've enlisted the help of Josh Hurtado, the exalted potentate of Indian cinema (ok, slight exaggeration, but he's definitely one of the most knowledgeable Westerners on this subject matter). In addition to the film, we discuss the best way to watch one of these films and some of the cultural idiosyncrasies that make films from India so unique. It's our annual Junesploitation wrap-up episode where we each share 30 picks for 30 categories ranging from hixploitation to 80s comedy to Fred Williamson to Italian horror. Lance has taken a risk by choosing a horror comedy that very few people will find funny. But it gave us a chance to focus on one of our favorite actors, Oliver Reed. While we do get into the cast and crew, don't expect an in-depth discussion of Heckyl and Hype, as we spend most of our time talking about its star. We're back in one of our favorite subgenres: rip-offs! But this time we've got one from a very unexpected country ripping off a very unexpected zombie movie. This LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE rip-off from South Korea may eliminate the gore, but it still holds its own. We've entered the world of Renato Polselli and we're not sure we should be here. April Showers of Blood continues as we take a trip to the farm. And then the sanitarium. And then back to the farm. And then on the road and finally to a mansion. There's a lot going on with Matthew's psychosis and mommy issues, and we unpack it all. Follow this podcast on Instagram and Facebook @unsunghorrors. Then (at 18:56 in case you wanted to skip the SXSW stuff), we begin our discussion of the Danish film THE MAN WHO THOUGHT LIFE and focus our discussion primarily on the questions that this film raises.
