The Unwise Girls go head to head in the most conflict-driven episode yet, and it's not just Percy and Kronos squaring off - Jacqueline and Jane are practically at each other's throats with how much they disagree about these chapters! We argue about whether or not Luke's story resolved satisfyingly (and what that even means in relation to the idea of 'redemption'), tear into what Rick Riordan is ultimately saying with this whole series' thesis (and if the book's overall quality is being affected by it needing to be a wrap-up), if Hermes really got what was coming to him in the end (wait, huh?) and also about Jane's debilitating addiction to Ben Shapiro. We're almost at the end, y'all, so it's gonna get weird whether we like it or not!

The Last Olympian, ch. 15 to 17

On this episode of Unwise Girls, we both kind of just need a hug and some hot chocolate as we hurtle towards the end of this book. On one hand, yeah, we get one of this series' most effective pieces of storytelling so far, a course in exactly how to write a story that compels you right off an emotional cliff that also doubles as a pretty darn good bit of homoerotic tragedy; on the other hand, we have to deal with the Party Ponies again. So like, we're kind of being pummeled on all ends, maybe give us a break for once?

Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian: Chapters 1-2

This is war! To the soldier, the civilian, the... the pisshorse, I guess. It's war time! Join us as we're plunged headfirst into this terrible conflict, which takes us from a greatly improved love-triangle subplot, to a familiar demon party boat, and under the waves for an epic battle for Poseidon's kingdom! There will be anime crab deaths, there will be devastation as Jane knocks over her bookshelf, there will be Deep Children's Book Analysis, and, for a beloved side character... a final goodbye.

The Battle of the Labyrinth comes to a close with one of the most climactic action scenes yet! Imagine: what if a young adult fantasy novel could make a huge fight to defend the main characters' home fort good? What if moms were evil? What if dads who were bad were also really cool and charming? What would happen if there was a fucked up guy and his soul was tied forever to a hellish ever-expanding labyrinth? What if Annabeth had a character arc we understood? What if Monopoly meant something for once? And, for the gods' sakes, what about milfs???
