A UN climate report author believes an agreement by the US and China to work together adds hope and a sense of urgency to the current climate talks.

In a surprise announcement, the two major powers have agreed to work to try to achieve the goal of keeping warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, and to move to reduce emissions, including limiting methane.
