As Utah prepares for its move to the Big 12 — a move that officially doesn't take place until Aug. 2 — the university made clear its future plans for football on Monday.

Defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley was named head coach in waiting and will take over once Kyle Whittingham retires — a date that remains unknown.
