Our story and series continue, and we’ll be exploring many interesting creative fields. This time we’re diving into the world of illustration, on paper and, above all, on the body. We met up with DAMIR, aka BORING GUY DAMIR. And this guy is anything but boring. Damir creates colorful drawings; he also loves working with wood and especially enjoys painting pigeons, as well as many other comic-style figures in his own unique way. Overall, it’s simply “his style” and his interpretation of people, characters, and stories that’s now in high demand on the scene. In an interview, we talked about his early days as a tattoo artist, his first studio, his internships at various studios across Europe, and the opening of his current ROSE TATTOO ATELIER. We also discussed conventions, trade shows, and events, and how to advance the tattoo scene in Podgorica and Montenegro. The Podgorica series continues, this time featuring another very important member of the legendary K13 CREW. This time, we spoke with FEŠA. Not only does he paint cool styles and has a wild sense of fashion, but he’s also the one who over the years has taken things a step further when it comes to presenting their projects in public and in front of the media. He’s given countless interviews to journalists from newspapers, television, and radio, and in the process, he’s often voiced genuine criticism. He’s a very important figure not only for the crew but also for the subculture and art scene of the city and the country as a whole. The famous K13 neighborhood used to be colorful and iconic; now the walls are white. This was the largest and oldest urban art gallery at the time, unfortunately, one has to say “was,” because the new municipal government, in a single sweep, had everything painted over in plain gray. A stupid, ignorant move, done without any understanding of what they were actually destroying. At the same time, they boast about lavishly funded mural projects. It’s hypocritical and amounts to nothing more than propaganda for their own PR. There’s no real support for the local scene, more like sabotage. But K13 has new plans and is gearing up to ensure that color on the walls and the subculture live on. We spoke with FEŠA about the beginings of the crew, the early graffiti days of Podgorica, the countless urban art projects and what's coming next. With this interview, we’re kicking off a new City Audio series, this time focusing on Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro. The oldest and most important crew in the city is, without a doubt, K13, which got its start after the war years in the early 2000s. Since then, it has grown, built a network, and kept going—and now there’s even a neighborhood named after them on Google. The group has its roots in the apartment blocks of Novi Grad, but soon their colors spread throughout the entire city. K13 brought graffiti to Podgorica, but it wasn’t just about the paint on the walls, it was also about community, the neighborhood, the people living there, solidarity, friendship, and creating something creative together. It was an alternative to the truly criminal activities on the streets; graffiti, hip hop and art were the positive options. We met with one of the crew’s founders, the legendary BRATINA. He showed us some of their work and, in an interview he told us about the crew’s history and the past nearly 30 years. The multidisciplinary artist BILLAIN AETHEK from Sarajevo creates magnificent murals, fantastic electronic music, and experimental sound designs that blend science fiction with dark audiovisual worlds. BILLAIN and AETHEK represent two distinct artistic sides of the same person. A defining element is cyberpunk and his related project CYBE. Also of interest are his experiments with 3D printing, which he uses to create intriguing additions to his murals or canvases. We sat down with BILLAIN AETHEK for an interview about his creative work and the graffiti scene in Sarajevo; he was part of the first generation of artists who started spraying after the war in the ’90s. On 24th October it was another legendary show, and we had a visitor from New York! Our guest in the Radio X studio was the fantastic graffiti artist, muralist, body painter, and music producer NME. We talked about graffiti in Brooklyn in the ’90s, about urban art in Key West and Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood, Need for Speed, his hip-hop projects, his new solo album, and what he’s currently up to in Germany. The graffiti artist RULOF is a true legend in Sarajevo and has covered the city from top to bottom with awesome pieces for many years. He now runs his own store called RULOF CLOTHING, which carries stylish streetwear as well as graffiti equipment, especially spray cans. With a huge selection of Loop Colors, he supplies both the local scene and visiting writers. These days, however, this multi-talented artist is much more active in the hip-hop world, with countless concerts and performances, and is better known as the fantastic CUNAMI FLO. In an interview we talked with him about his early days in graffiti and how it all started, about the origins of his shop, and about his music and work as a popular and renowned rapper. Der Frankfurter Künstler ANDY SIEGE erstellt farbenfroh abstrakte Leinwandarbeiten im Art Brut Stil, er produziert historische Science Fiction Filme und publiziert surreale Fantasy Bücher. Am 3. The Croatian artist duo BENJAMIN BELJIAN, better known as ŽELJKO, and IVA JURIĆ create fantastic objects that are, on the one hand, creative works of art with which one can interact. At the same time, they are also games that are meant to be played and are considered creative artwork. In other words, playable art or artistic games. The duo is deeply rooted in Zagreb’s local soccer scene and they have published several comprehensive books, research studies, and historical interviews. Additionally, through their projects, they not only seek to breathe new life into discarded items through upcycling but also revitalize abandoned sports facilities and playgrounds with new equipment or soccer goal nets. We met the two in Sarajevo during preparations for their exhibition at the Manifesto Galeria and spoke with them in an interview about their art, the ideas behind their interesting ventures, and their planned association. The Nepalese artist AASHIKA SHARMA from Pokhara is an expert in organization and project development and is active in various fields. With the urban art crew and agency TAG THEORY, she has organized several streetart events and graffiti jams; in particular, the Irish Pub Alley in Pokhara has now become a fantastic open-air gallery. She is also active in filmmaking and has already produced several exciting movies. Currently she is working on a historical documentary action film about the 1973 Royal Nepal Airlines hijacking.
