Am 18. April ging es bei x-wie-raus um elektronische Beatz, das Auflegen von Musik und das DJ-Leben. Dazu hatten wir uns zwei Meister aus der Szene eingeladen, uns besuchten die DJs JAZPERT und SAFARIKLANG, ehemaliger Resident im Lagerhaus. Wir haben uns über ihre b2b Sessions unterhalten, über das Produzieren von Sounds und anstehende Events wie Roof on Fire oder den Urban Hippie Market im Blauen Wasser, bei dem die beiden auch am Start sind.

In this episode we have another exciting interview of our URBANSTRIKERS series from South-Korea. Piece by piece, you’ll get an interesting reportage about this awesome collective and movement. This time, we’re focusing on painting, drawing, and digital art, but also on emotions, the inner self and the dark parts of it. The amazing artist MOKI empathetically blends his emotions with his creativity, creating fantastic works of art. Sometimes gloomy and dark, sometimes colorful or chaotic - just as life and the emotional world are. The “mainstream” has always disgusted him; he wanted to do things differently, and why shouldn’t that be possible? In the URBANSTRIKERS, he has found exactly that kind of collective which addresses these issues in society and takes creative action against them. Am 11. April haben wir uns mit Kunst im öffentlichen Raum beschäftigt, vor allem mit der Frankfurter Kunstsäule. Seit Mai 2017 finden hier dreimal im Jahr fantastische open air Ausstellungen wechselnder Künstler an der runden 360° Galerie statt. Uns besuchte im Studio der Gründer des Projekts: Zeichner, Filmemacher und Kurator DANIEL HARTLAUB. Gemeinsam mit FLORIAN KOCH organisiert er das Projekt und stellt immer wieder ein fantastisches Programm auf die Beine. Wir haben uns in der Sendung über die Geschichte der Kunstsäule unterhalten, die aktuelle Ausstellung „Vanished“, seine Black Drawings und die vielen weiteren Projekte, die über Film, Musik, Performance oder Comics sogar zu Videospielen reichen. SHRADDHA SHRESTHA is a street artist, illustrator and muralist from Kathmandu and active since around 2011 she is one of the leading figures in Nepal’s emerging urban art scene. Her work is characterized by colorful, often imaginative figures inspired by her childhood and traditional cultural influences from the city of Patan. In her murals she combines urban graffiti aesthetics with local motifs and stories. In addition to creating in public spaces, she also works as an illustrator and is part of the VIRANGANA COLLECTIVE, which published the first comic anthology in Nepal created exclusively by women. SHRADDHA represents a new generation of Nepalese urban artists who use the streets to highlight cultural identity, imagination and social issues. She did huge murals with the FEARLESS COLLECTIVE, had exhibitions around the world like in the RUBIN MUSEUM in New York or was part of the fantastic festival MILLERNTOR GALLERY in Hamburg, Germany. Momentan läuft die Ausstellung „Montagen“ mit faszinierenden Papier-Streifen-Kreationen von der Grafikerin und Collagistin MIRA LAAF im TRASHLAND aka KUNSTLABOR. Die Ausstellung startete am 7. März und läuft noch bis zum 30. April. Am 28. März war die Künstlerin zu Gast bei uns im Studio! The fantastic artist ROG from the Sanepa neighborhood in Lalitpur is a true multi talent. He got his start with the legendary ART LAB collective, which unfortunately no longer exists. But perhaps that’s just the way it had to be, and the members have gone their separate ways with their own projects. New collectives, groups, and projects have emerged and you simply can’t stop creative energy. And after that those former members even developed much more. ROG doesn’t just go with the flow of this energy; he harnesses it, builds upon it, motivates, connects, and links. He brings people, groups, ideas, and energies together. He is a connector. With a deep love for graffiti and urban art. We sat down for an interview with this fantastic person. This came after we were in a meeting with a group of other crazy artists to launch a streetart festival in the city with good cause. All of Kathmandu and Lalitpur is filled with small stores and shops, many of which are art-related. They sell canvases, often of very high quality and created by local artists. But these places are just retail outlets. Where do the artworks actually come from? Who creates them, and who even teaches the artists how to do this? We visited the artist and art teacher KUMAR LAMA at his art school OLD MONASTERY THANKA AND ART PAINTING SCHOOL, and spoke with him about his creative space and the art presented. Currently 45 teachers work there and more than 100 students are taking part at the program. Also joining the interview was KUSFU TAMANG, who is an artist herself but also works at the art enterprise and is his daughter. We spoke with both in an interview about the school, the artworks and the background behind. This space is an art education program that has been in operation for many generations.

Am 28. Februar hatten wir wieder ein fantastisches RuFFM-xwieraus Double Feature für euch! Seit vielen Jahren bespielt ROBERT WONG aka ROB B den vierten Samstag im Monat mit feinstem Drum and Bass, doch wer ist der Künstler eigentlich? Vor seinem Set hatten wir ihn im Interview zu seinem Werdegang als DJ, aber auch zu seinen Filmprojekten, Webinaren, Drohnen-Videos und natürlich zu Airforcewong. Es gab dann gar kein typisches DJ Set mehr, aber eine Doppelstunde im Interview zur umfangreichen Geschichte von ROB B, mit alten Erlebnissen und neuen Ideen.
