Valerie Wilson Wesley writes mysteries, novels and children’s books. Her latest mystery is A Shimmer of Red (2023), which is the third book in her Odessa Jones Mystery Series. She is the author of nine Tamara Hayle Mysteries, including When Death Comes Stealing, named by Times magazine as one of the best mystery and thriller books of the last 100 years. Most of her mysteries and several of her novels have been published in Germany, France and Great Britain. Wesley has also written paranormal romances under the pen name Savanna Welles. They include When the Night Whispers and The Moon Tells Secrets. Her novels include Playing My Mother’s Blues, Always True to You in My Fashion and Ain’t Nobody’s Business If I Do for which she received the 2000 award for excellence in adult fiction from the Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA).
