This morning we were privileged to have Dr. John Smith, Pastor of Teays Valley Baptist Church in Hurricane, WV with us to kick off our Fall Revival. His mentor lineage led directly to our own Pastor Jared, who served under Dr. Smith for many years at Teasy Valley.

In a message titled Can You Hear Me Now? we take a look at Samuel as a young man when God was calling to him. Samuel heard God's voice and made himself available for service.

Do you hear God's voice today? Maybe he's calling to you for salvation. Maybe it's about your sin. Maybe it's to service. But no matter what He's calling out to you for, are you making yourself ready and available?

What type of Christian are you? That's a pretty loaded question isn't it? There's a lot of potential answers to that question. Are you a committed Christian? Content? Maybe you're a closet Christian.

The book of James talked about people who have not. When we apply those criteria to Christians we can see four types of Christians who have not. This morning Pastor Jared takes us through these four types of Christians and challenges us to examine our heart to see if we fall into one of the categories.

So what kind of Christian are you? Are you one, or more, of these types of Christians who have not?

Sunday Evening, September 22nd, 2019 - It's Time to Dig Again - Pastor Jared Shumate

Scientists will tell you that where there is water there is life. This is why NASA spends so much money searching for water on other planets. They know that if they find water, or evidence of past water, then there's a pretty good chance there is, or was, some form of life there. Spiritual water is very similar to physical water. Where there is spiritual water, there is life!

Isaac spent some time in the desert digging Wells looking for water. He was opposed, accused, and faced opposition. But he just picked up his shovel and went and dig another well, looking for water.

Maybe you're in a spiritual drought and you need spiritual water in your life. So when is it time to dig again? When is it time to pick up your shovel, roll up your sleeves, and dig another well?

It's not a one time thing. Sometimes the well runs dry or has to be relocated. It's the same in your spiritual life. Digging wells, looking for spiritual water, is an ongoing process.

Maybe it's time for you to dig a well today.

Sunday Morning, September 22nd, 2019 - Why Listen To Him? - Pastor Jared Shumate

There are a lot of things in this world vying for our attention. The TV, the radio, newspapers, politicians, your employer, etc, etc, etc. They all want our eyes and our ears. The world is calling out for you, tempting to to divert your attention.

But there is another voice in the crowd calling for you. A loving and gentle voice, still and soft. Jesus Himself calls out for you from among the noise of this world. Just like a shepherd calls his sheep by name, Jesus is calling for you.

But why listen to Him? How are His Words different from those of the world? The world tries to distract us, but He leads us. The world beats us down and lets us down, but He loves us. The world will destroy you if you allow it, but He gives us life!
