Vandy247 Podcast

Chris Lee and Seabass talk VU football, including the Commodores' slew of talented receivers and how VU may be able to off-set offensive line questions through play calling. The two also discuss the endless preseason fluff of summer football talk and how behind-the-scenes confidence doesn't always translate to success.

The similarities between the 2019 Vanderbilt and Purdue teams are deep and many. Chris Lee discusses that with GoldAndBlack.com's Tom Dienhart, who covers the Boilermakers at Purdue's Rivals site. The teams play each other in Week 2 of the 2019 football season on Purdue's home field in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Nashville sports radio legend George Plaster joins the podcast for an hour. Topics include George's opinions of Malcolm Turner and the challenges facing him with facilities and rebuilding a fan base and stories from his days as VU's play-by-play announcer (and some behind-the-scenes look at some controversial times). George answers well over a dozen listener questions, too, in a can't-miss episode of the VandySports Podcast.

Chris Lee and Seabass discuss the impact of catcher Ty Duvall's return, before getting into a discussion of the 2019 football defense--and why how one sizes that unit up could vary greatly by what part of the season it is.

Georgia beat writer Anthony Dasher of UGASports.com offers some great insight into the Bulldogs, Vandy's first opponent in football, and how UGA matches up with Vandy. But first, Anthony shares some special insight into Commodore baseball commitment Carter Holton, who happens to be his cousin. The two also talk about the state of Georgia's baseball and basketball programs.

Chris Lee and Seabass discuss some moments and accomplishments from Vanderbilt's baseball season, discuss the popularity of college baseball, and talk football as prompted by some mailbag questions.

Vanderbilt play-by-play voice Joe Fisher joins the podcast. He and Chris Lee spend most of the time discussing the 2019 national championship baseball season, but also dive into some facilities-related issues, a brief look at the football season ahead, and how things have changed under new AD Malcolm Turner.

When you're the preseason No. 1, the best you can do is meet expectations. However, when the Commodores lost just 12 games and won everything in sight, those achievements seemed to over-shoot the most lofty expectations. Chris Lee and Mitch Light discuss Vandy's amazing 2019 season and some areas where the team was better than they thought, and discuss how the Commodores survived some major injuries to get there.

Vanderbilt caps an incredible season with a national title. Chris Lee and Chip Fridrich have a long discussion about the season, including the media's coverage of it, talk some about next year, and take a bunch of mailbag questions.

The opener to the CWS title series went exactly as Vanderbilt hoped it would not. The good news: Vandy's pitching gets much better from here. The question: Can the hitters snap out of a funk and do enough against Jeff Criswell and Karl Kauffman, and perhaps get their way into Michigan's bullpen, which is something that the Wolverines don't want? Chris Lee and Chip Fridrich examine all that.
