Celebrated on the full moon day of the Solar month of Karthik, Karthikai is the South Indian celebration of Lights. it is a festival associated with the birth of Lord Kathikeya as well as the JytoirLinga of Arunachala in Tamilnadu. Continuing the series on the 5 day celebration of Dipavali. thr 5th and final day is a day to honour the bond between brother and sister. Celebrated by Indians from all parts of India except for some southern states this festival has many regional names. This festival is a tradition but not a religious observance.

Continuing the series on the 5 day celebration of Dipavali, this is day 4. Celebrated as Bali Pratipadā/ Bali Padyami, Padva, Virapratipada / Dyutapratipada/ Govardhan Puja/ Bestu Varas or Varsha Pratipada/ Vishvakarma Puja, this day seems to have an importance of it’s own.

Did you know that Deepavali is celebrated differently in different states of India? Or that it is only a single day celebration in the south and a 5 day celebration in many other parts of India? Growing up in South India I always wondered why some of my friends celebrated a different day as Deepavali. So, I m bringing to you the basic significance behind the celebrations and the beliefs associated with them.

Fridays is an important day to worship the Mother Goddess all over India. The specific months of Thai and Adi are considered sacred by the tamils. What makes these months special? Join me as I take you through the possible reason for this tradition. While most of us know these traditions, we rarely know why we follow them. As I searched for the answer, I saw many posts on how to observe these traditions and what benefits one receives. But, I was not able to see why we consider these days important?  People looking to get married, or to have better relationships, ones who look for prosperity and a better life, always approach the Goddess in Her many forms. Each Friday is also dedicated to the worship of a specific form of the Goddess. I have not included any of that information in this video, I will do so maybe in another one later on. Instead, I tell the nature of the Goddess and the actual benefit of worshipping on fridays. The connection between the day, the month and the Goddess.
