Lately, I’ve been reflecting on why I chose electronic music—especially coming from a background in flamenco guitar. For a while, I kept asking myself, What exactly is techno? But I’ve come to see that this question leads away from the truth rather than toward it. Now I ask something simpler, more personal: Why am I drawn to this sound? Each track gives me small, wordless answers—fragments of what I’ve been feeling, seeing, thinking. It’s not about genre or how it might sound to others. It’s about translating lived experience into sound—unfiltered, emotional, and real, in a way that captures the emotional imprint of my recent life, moment by moment. Freedom has always been precious to me. I feel most free in the mountains—especially standing before the twin peaks of Ushba. That mountain means something very real to me. It took the life of my friend this year—a true Svan, a pure Georgian soul. I’ve never met anyone like him.The best Mountaineer, freerider and skier, a man of extraordinary dignity, someone who would open his home to anyone. He was one in a billion. This mix is more than music to me. It’s not a project or a product—it’s everything. A personal imprint of all I’ve been processing: grief, awe, beauty, and a longing for something beyond words. In that way, it’s not something I made. It’s something that revealed itself.

I’ve always loved imperfections. They make me feel more connected to whatever it is. Could be a faded polaroid with dust on it, a single cloud in an otherwise clear sky, or a clap that sounds different each time it plays. There’s something about the unpredictability, the raw edges, that makes things feel more real. Especially in music, that’s what draws me in. So when Upperberry reached out, it felt like the right moment to gather tracks that carry that same imperfect energy and to explore my own path through sound, drifting from dub into house. A exploration of patience and looping including sounds and textures that inspires me to make music that feels alive.

We are now in early summer, one of my favourite seasons in Japan. It is not too hot yet, and I can feel the gentle breeze through the buildings of Tokyo. The breeze in Tokyo is different from the breeze I felt in the pastures outside Amsterdam where I grew up, but only at this time of year I can recall it even though I'm in the far east. Usually, the DJ mixes I release are designed to promote my own label, so they are more conscious of the sounds of Tokyo. In this mix, however, I play a lot of Detroit and dub-like techno, which are my roots of music as a DJ. I would like to thank Upperberry for this opportunity. It was a great opportunity to remember why I fell in love with electronic music like I remember where I'm actually from through the Tokyo's wind in early summer.

This mix was created during the preparation period for Transcendence, an outdoor event that I am organising. While mixing, I let my imagination expand on this year’s concept. The mix is crafted with an awareness of the passage of time in a beautiful forest filled with vibrant greenery. Musically, while maintaining my signature sound, I incorporated tracks with a more progressive touch—ones I don’t usually play—to bring a sense of freshness to the set.

Bringing galactic sounds - a journey told in multiple parts. This mix revisits moments in time from the past years, a time of musical (re?-)discovery for me. Starting from scratch again, I asked myself: what do I feel? The photo on the artwork is of a place I very often go to reflect. I’ve been through many phases in this place, the energy of that place has shaped this mix. Peace and chaos. I built the mix in sections. The introduction is a live piece, created with my modular system. From there, it flows into dynamic, organic sounds. This mix is meant as a listening experience, not something made with the dance floor in mind.

Dancing is a form of therapy and you should never hesitate to take care of your mental health under any circumstances. This mix was recorded in Kyiv, using an arsenal of purpose-built acidic club weapons shaped by wave, electro, minimal and EBM, to set movement free beneath falling shadows.
