Today, we go over the story of the covid vaccine development, and answer the question of how we know it is safe when it was developed so quickly.

Update:
Since recording this video, it has been discovered that Guillain-Barre syndrome is a rare side effect of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine - 100 cases have developed, out of over 12 million doses given. Remember, when you give a vaccine to millions of people, side effects that only have a one in a million chance of occurring are going to be discovered (yes, I know that's not how the math works out here, it's just an expression).
Given that Guillain-Barre is also a potential side effect for Covid, as well as many other known potential long-term effects, I'd still take my chances with the J&J vaccine. It is also an important part of the public health aspect of the vaccinations - being a single dose vaccine, it is the preferred brand for people that are more likely to miss an appointment for a second dose - like the homeless, for instance.
