We dive into a topic that can be considered absolutely controversial, but if you’ve been with us since the beginning, you know we don’t shy away from talking about these potentially taboo topics. Feminism has experienced up to 4 waves, each one building on the other and also being different from the last. But what has it become today? And has modern-day feminism potentially created more division and confusion among women and men? We want to acknowledge our gratitude for all the movements that came before us that fought for the rights women have today. But here’s the question–has the pendulum swung too far in a way that women are now operating like men in our society? And how can we find harmony within society that honors both women and men for their differences? We get into all of this and so much more!
This episode explores:
-A brief review of the evolution of the feminism movement and its multiple waves to understand why we are where we are today with feminism.
-The conversation and debate around the question, “Are modern day women being failed today?”
-The progression birth control provided for women to catch up in society both in careers and their sexual liberation, but now is it deterring women?
-Was society actually ever ready to celebrate the freedom of sexuality of women? Men and women weren’t ever taught how to revere this true freedom.
-The lack of balance that exists when there’s a movement that can potentially divide groups (i.e. women and men).
-Has feminism now made it so most men feel like they don’t know what to say or do today without being made to feel like they’re doing more harm than good?
-Is the matiarchy really “better” than a patriarchy? Or do we need a balance of both expressions in society?
-Women feeling like they have to choose between pursuing a career the way men do or raising a family. Can we actually do both and feel fulfilled?
-Biologically, considering women’s unique hormones, women are not set up to succeed in traditional society. It’s a society created by men specifically for men. But in actuality, is this societal 9-5 work lifestyle made for humans at all?
-The need for corporations and businesses to get on board with honoring the unique needs of women.
-The way your perspectives change around money and career the moment you choose to be in a life partnership with another person and also decide to start raising a family.
-The societal expectations of men and women in a family dynamic and the need to rewire them when they don’t actually match individual desires.
-The importance of women to be connected to their natural cyclical rhythms (aka menstrual cycles) so they can actually know what it is they want for themselves vs the game played in society.
-Are women operating like men today so they can keep up and feel valuable? And what does this do for women’s bodies and minds?
-Collective society needing to ask not just what women need but what do men need as well so we can all feel supported in our differences AND understand one another regardless of those differences.
As always, thank you for choosing to be here with us as we navigate this Vida together as a community!
