Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Brazil. Estamos na cidade do Cabo de Santo Agostinho, em Pernambuco, em frente à entrada para as ruínas de uma antiga casa de farinha. Neste local era feito o beneficiamento da mandioca, elemento central para a subsistência no Brasil Holandês, entre 1630 e 1654, representando tanto um recurso econômico quanto uma ponte cultural entre indígenas, colonos portugueses e administradores holandeses.

De ingang van het pad waar we nu voor staan loopt naar de ruïnes van een oude meelfabriek waar voorheen maniok, ook bekend als cassave, werd verwerkt tot meel, essentieel voor de Braziliaanse keuken, en ook van levensbelang tijdens de periode van Nederlands Brazilië tussen 1630 en 1654.

The path that leads into the woods, here, will get you to the ruins of an old flour mill, where manioc, cassava flour, used to be processed, a central element for subsistence in Brazil, as well as in Dutch Brazil between 1630 and 1654, representing both an economic resource and a cultural bridge between indigenous peoples, Portuguese settlers and the Dutch administrators.

Com 14 hectares, protege a biodiversidade local, como preguiças, saguis e aves, além de abrigar o zoológico do Recife, com 400 animais sob cuidados humanos, incluindo répteis, aves e mamíferos.

Covering 14 hectares, it protects local biodiversity such as sloths, marmosets and birds, as well as housing the Recife Zoo, with 400 animals under human care, including reptiles, birds and mammals.
