Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Brazil. Here, at Monte dos Guararapes, two decisive battles took place that led to the expulsion of the Dutch from Brazil in 1654, after 24 years of private colonisation by the entrepreneurs of the Dutch West India Company, with the backing of the Dutch States General, that is, the Dutch government.

Recife, Brazil. Aqui, na Igreja de Nossa Senhora dos Militares, no bairro de Santo Antônio, no Recife, está uma das representações mais conhecidas das Batalhas dos Montes Guararapes, principais ações bélicas ocorridas no Nordeste brasileiro contra a presença dos holandeses na região.

Na praça Maria Camarão, na região central do distrito de Tejucupapo, município de Goiana, em Pernambuco, na região Nordeste do Brasil, fica a estátua de uma mulher altiva segurando um barril na cabeça e uma faca na mão direita. A personagem representada tem o mesmo nome da praça e é o símbolo de um povo que se lembra da própria história.

Ciceroândia, Brazil. Op het Maria Camarão-plein, in het centrum van de wijk Tejucupapo, in de gemeente Goiana, in Pernambuco, in het noordoosten van Brazilië, staat een standbeeld van een trotse vrouw met een bak boven haar hoofd en een mes in haar rechterhand. De vrouw heeft dezelfde naam als het plein en dient als een symbool voor de bewoners van dit dorp, en de regio, voor hen die zich hun eigen geschiedenis weten te herinneren.

Ciceroândia, Brazil. In Maria Camarão square, in the centre of the district of Tejucupapo, in the municipality of Goiana, Pernambuco, in the north-east of Brazil, stands a statue of a proud woman holding a vessel over her head and a knife in her right hand. The character here depicted has the same name as the square and is the symbol of a people who remember their own history.
