On today's episode of The New Stack Makers recorded at KubeCon & CloudNativeCon in Austin, Texas Josh Bernstein, Vice President of Technology at Dell Technologies and leader of the {code} open source initiative, and Kit Colbert, Vice President and General Manager of Cloud-Native Apps at VMware, break down what a Kubernetes deployment looks like today, and what the typical enterprise's Kubernetes cluster will look like in the future.

Often, enterprises find themselves "Kicking the tires," when trialing Kubernetes in their technology stack. After making the jump to using Kubernetes in production, they can then find themselves facing the challenges of running Kubernetes on-prem versus running it in the cloud.

"The challenge with containers is not with dev tests. We see containers being a very common way of building a CI/CD pipeline. When you go to production, that's when it gets really hard. That's when you have requirements like security, monitoring, and compliance. There's a lot of problems you start getting into," said Bernstein.
