• 84% of patients in Newfoundland and Labrador received hip replacement surgery within the recommended wait time of 6 months in 2017, compared with 94% in 2015.

• 66% of patients in Newfoundland and Labrador who underwent knee replacement surgery received the procedure within the recommended 6-month wait time in 2017, compared with 87% in 2015.

• 87% of patients in Newfoundland and Labrador who had cataract surgery in 2017 received the procedure within the recommended wait time of 16 weeks, compared with 96% in 2015.

• 87% of patients in Newfoundland and Labrador who needed hip fracture repair received the procedure within the recommended 48 hours, compared with 85% in 2015.

• 100% of patients in Newfoundland and Labrador who had radiation therapy for cancer in 2017 received it within the recommended wait time of 28 days, compared with 99% in 2015.

Iron & Earth Constructing First Greenhouse of It’s Kind; Showcasing Renewable Energy Technologies While Supporting Employment for Those on the Autism SpectrumNewfoundland Labrador (ASNL) are calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the construction of the 365 Greenhouse Project. This project will showcase renewable energy technologies, address food sustainability solutions, and allow ASNL to expand their services to benefit community members with Autism Spectrum Disorder through their second social enterprise, Good Roots Gardening. It is the first greenhouse of its kind to be built in NL and will be among the first net-metering projects to be connected to the provincial grid. This is an opportunity for local contractors and volunteers to be involved in a high-profile, community-based, environmentally-friendly initiative that will have broad-reaching positive impacts.
