The Pittsburgh Girls Choir perform a concert titled "Anne Frank: Hope and Remembrance" Wednesday June 12th, 7pm at Rodef Shalom.   The Choirs Artistic Director Kathryn Barnard and some students stopped by to chat with WQED-FM's Anna Singer about the concert.

New Music ensemble Nat 28 with flutist and Artistic Director Zoe Sorrell plus  Allysun Huneycutt , clarinet and Executive Director and colleagues visited the WQED-FM studio to preview their concert Saturday June 8th in Mount Lebanon at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church at 8pm. The played Kati Agoc's "Immutable Dreams" and explained how it fit into the theme "In Spite of All This."

Emily Cook and Anna Elder of the all woman group Kamratōn, and their conductor Daniel Curtis stopped by WQED-FM to speak about their new opera: Her Holiness: The Winter Dog. The Opera was composed by Curtis Rumrill for the Kamratōn group, and it runs May 30th and 31st at 8 p.m. at the New Hazlett Theater. In this conversation with Jim Cunningham, the unique joy of modern music, the importance of pushing yourself artistically, and the impact of plot driven musical choices are all discussed.

Corey Bourbonniere is one of the dancers of the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater who will be seen at Chautauqua New York  when the PBT dances Sleeping Beauty with Tchaikovsky’s score played by the Chautauqua Symphony and Music Director Rossen Milanov. He tells us his story,why he loves to dance and  talks about the timeless qualities of the ballet classic with the  staging from Terrence Orr.

Composer David Mahler is included in a new collection of piano music from American composers recorded for New World by Rory Cowal . David lives in Squirrel Hill with his wife Julie Hanify, Head Librarian at the Carnegie Library music Division in the Main Branch. They stopped by with a singing friend to perform Stephen Foster’s Hard Times in the Bayer Broadcast Center. The Foster is the starting point for one of David’s pieces as he explained to Jim Cunningham.
