Pittsburgh Concert Chorale Music Director Susan Medley takes through "Music of War and Peace" - a concert of music that highlights the trials of war and the uplifting transcendence of peace, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 4, at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church and 4 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at Ingomar United Methodist Church.  PCC’s concert features Richard Buchard’s “O vos omnes”, Jeffrey Van’s A Procession Around Me (a setting of four Walt Whitman Civil War Poems) and Franz Joseph Haydn’s Mass in Time  of War

The Pittsburgh Youth Symphony gives a free concert with two concertos featuring Pittsburgh Symphony members as soloist. George Vosburgh plays the Haydn Trumpet Concerto and and Michael Lippman plays the Haydn C Major Cello Concerto with Don Juan by Richard  Strauss all conducted by Francesco Lecce Chong. Craig Johnson Executive Director and soloist Michael Lippman joined the Maestro to preview  the concert.

WQED-FM's  Anna Singer talks to composer Laura Kaminsky and librettist Kimberly Reed about Pittsburgh Opera's production of "As One."

The Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University presents another "Schubert on the Bluff" concert this Sunday afternoon, 3pm at PNC Recital Hall.  Cynthia Raim and David Allen Wehr continue their exploration of this valuable corner of the repertoire in this program with three works: the symphonic Grand Duo, the graceful Rondo in A Major and the stormy Allegro in A Minor (Life's Torments). They also perform Copland's witty Danzon Cubano for two pianos, and the program is filled out with Schubert's lovely "By the Stream", a song with French horn and piano.  David Allen Wehr and Cynthia Raim stopped by the QED Morning Show to talk about the concert.

Every year, 14 senior Yale men are selected to be in the Whiffenpoofs, the world's oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group. Founded in 1909, the "Whiffs" began as a senior quartet that met for weekly concerts at Mory's Temple Bar, the famous Yale tavern. Today, the group has become one of Yale's most celebrated traditions.  Saturday night at 8, the Yale Whiffenpoofs perform at Heinz Chapel.   The group stopped by the QED Morning Show to talk about their Pittsburgh concert, as well as sing a few tunes.

Brian Vu plays "Hannah before" in Pittsburgh Opera's production of "As One."  He talks to WQED-FM's Anna Singer about the role.

James Lesniak is the conductor for Pittsburgh Opera's production of "As One."   James talks about the musical challenges in the opera, as well as his favorite moments.

Taylor Raven sings the role of "Hannah after" in Pittsburgh Opera's production of "As One."  Taylor talks about her role, and says that this is her 2nd time performing "As One."

Frances Rabalais is the stage director of Pittsburgh Opera's production of "As One."  Frances explains the challenges of directing this opera, which only has 2 singers.

Friday February 17th, 8pm at Bellefield Hall, Undercroft Opera presents Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin."  WQED-FM's Anna Singer talks to Undercroft Opera Founding Director Mary Beth Sederburg, Baritone Ian Greenlaw and Soprano Katie Manukyan about the production.
