The SMMC Brake for Breakfast event will be held October at 7 a.m. Free breakfasts and a free gift will be given out.

Lemhi County is considered moderate risk for COVID, with 24 active cases as of 9/29.

9/29 Jen Smith, executive director at Lemhi Regional Land Trust talks about the Salmon school garden located at 1309 Mini Street. The school garden also has community produce days by donation. 

The Lemhi Regional Land Trust is teaching a workshop on fermenting vegetables, using their extra cabbage to make Sauerkraut. The workshop will be on October 4th at 2 p.m. The workshop will be $30 and all funds will go back to the garden.

9/28 Sheri Miller and Barb Fisher with Lemhi After School Promise discuss their program. This program is available for children in Kindergarten through fifth grade.

Chris Born, Salmon School District superintendent, discusses the COVID-related changes at the SSD schools. 

The school district is in need of substitute teachers and bus drivers. If you become a substitute, you will be compensated for your work. 

Homecoming has been postponed for two weeks.

9/24 Chris Born, Salmon School District superintendent, visits Voice of the Valley to discuss COVID and its effect on the school, as Lemhi County reaches 13 active cases. By Monday, 9/28, Born anticipates the school will mandate masks, take temperatures, and social distance when possible. 

Nep Lynch, Jim Bob Infanger, and Bill Allen discuss the Lynch Center. The Lynch Center is estimated to be done by the end of spring, depending on the weather.

9/23 Jenny Tracy with the Steele Memorial Medical Center joins Voice of the Valley to give an update on COVID-19. 

As of 9/22, there are 10 active cases of COVID-19 in Lemhi County.

Brake for Breakfast will be held on October 7th starting at 7 a.m. Free breakfast and a gift will be given to those who participate in the event. Brake for Breakfast is held in honor of breast cancer awareness. 

Tracy also discusses child passenger safety and the importance of effective, safe car seats.

9/22 Will Ferguson with the adventure crew announces their contest winner and updates. 

The Adventure Crew recently teamed up with the city to create a video for the city to show people what the city has to offer. Once the video is finished, it will be published on Facebook for anyone who would like to see it.

9/17 The Salmon Substance Abuse Coalition joins Voice of the Valley to discuss their upcoming events. 

Tuesday, September 22nd is Family Dinner Night. There will be a corresponding content as well. 

September 23rd, there will be a DFY glow in the dark ultimate frisbee game. 

On the 24th at 6:30 p.m. there will be a movie night at River Cinemas to celebrate recovery.

SSAPCO and Lemhi Valley Social Services also talk about recovery month and support offered in the community.

9/16 Jenny and Andy deliver the good news that there are now only 3 active COVID-19 cases in Lemhi County, as of 9/16. This means that Lemhi County is classified as minimal risk. 

Andy, a registered ER nurse, talks about SMMC's stroke program. Andy discusses the signs of a stroke and the urgency to act quickly when it comes to strokes.

9/15 Jeff Moore joins Voice of the Valley to discuss a youth training clinic available for youth in the area for hunting and bird hunting with dogs. The clinic will be in Challis on Saturday, September 19 at the Challis gun club. The clinic will be free for 15 kids ages 10-17 with a valid hunting license or pass.

There will be class work, clay pigeon shooting, and the kids will get to work with the hunting dogs.

9/14 Anna Means with the Challis Arts Council calls into Voice of the Valley to discuss their event this week. Friday, September 18 Barbara Peets show will open at the Maddog Gallery. The opening will be from 5-7 p.m.

Barbara Peets is a local artist who has become notable for her landscape canvases. 

The show will be up through October, likely until early November. Tuesday-Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-4 p.m.
