8/19 Jenny Tracy with SMMC gives the weekly COVID-19 update. As of 8/19/20, there was a decrease in active cases. Once Lemhi County gets to 12 active cases, the county will drop back to minimal risk. 

There is a mask mandate in effect that requires people to wear a mask. Tracy encourages people to wear a mask whenever in a building, such as at the grocery store. 

Tracy also encourages people who at higher risk to take extra health and safety precautions whenever possible.

8/18 Chris Born discusses the postponing of school openings two weeks to September 14th. This affects any schools in Salmon School District #291. Masks will be mandated, social distancing will be followed, and the school will be regularly cleaned and sanitized. 

Sports will still be going on during this time. However, spectators will not be allowed at sporting events until Lemhi County is "green."

Lemhi County is now classified as moderate risk for COVID-19. Face coverings are now required in public spaces when people can't social distance. Social distancing of at least six feet must be maintained between people in separate households.

Tracy also discusses exceptions to the mask mandate. 

Mayor Leo Marshall clears up rumors about "secretive city council meetings." 

Taylee Matthews discusses her senior project, a closet at the high school that will provide clothing to students in need.

Fred Payne, a CPA, discusses the President's executive order. The executive order is a payroll tax holiday that will run from September 1st to the end of the year. In essence, employees who make less than 4,000 every two weeks can ask to stop paying their 6.25% FICA retirement tax through their paycheck. However, this is a deferral, so somebody will have to pay back that tax later on unless Congress decides to implement some sort of tax forgiveness.

8/12 Lisa Loughran with Steele Memorial Medical Center gives the weekly COVID-19 update. Lemhi county, as of 8/12, has 29 positive cases. Of those 29, 15 cases are active. Lemhi County, as of 8/12, is in the minimal risk category for COVID-19. However, is is predicted that Lemhi County will soon move to moderate risk. 

If/when Lemhi County is classified as moderate risk, Eastern Idaho Public Health will give the county guidance.

8/11 Katie McFarland discusses Lemhi County Fair news. The fair will still be held as usual. The Family Fun Night has been canceled, but all other events, as of 8/11, will be held. The fair will be August 19-29.

8/5 Lisa Loughran with Steele Memorial Medical Center goes over the weekly COVID-19 update. Lemhi County remains at minimal risk for COVID-19. Lemhi County currently has 4 active cases, all of which are being closely monitored. Custer County currently has 0 active cases. To date, SMMC has tested 516 people total. 

If Lemhi County reaches 12 active cases, we will move to moderate risk. 

All are encouraged to wear a mask in public, social distance when possible, and wash their hands thoroughly.

Nick & Rachel Alvarado with Rise and Shine Espresso discuss their partnership with EICAP for Coffee for a Cause.At Coffee for a Cause, Rise and Shine sponsors a local nonprofit organization and 20% of their proceeds for the day are donated to that organization.

Linda Price with SMMC talks about the Steele Memorial Board of Directors and its three vacancies. Anyone is welcome to apply to be a member of the board. Board members monitor finances, quality, selection and supervision of the CEO, and more.

8/3 Russ Chinski and Brianne Greene with the Salmon Whitewater Park visit Voice of the Valley to talk about the progress of the park. A donor is donating up to $800,000. The Salmon Whitewater Park hopes to raise $200,000. The winner of the raft raffle is drawn. 

Chris Born and Jeremy Burgess update listeners on school district news. As of 8/3, the Salmon schools are planning to reopen as normal. As long as Lemhi County stays in the minimal risk category of Covid, sports will also continue as normal.
