Voices of Wrestling Podcast Network

On this episode of Music of the Mat, Andrew is joined by Garrett Kidney to discuss the theme history of Low Ki! One of wrestling's more capricious athletes, there can be no doubt that the "World Warrior" has traveled the globe as a truly independent wrestler; Impact, ROH, WWE, New Japan, and NOAH are just a handful of promotions where Low Ki has wrestled. So let's talk about him, his cool kicks, and his cooler entrance themes!

In this week's episode of the New Japan Purocast, we give our thoughts on the best matches from this year's New Japan Cup and give our predictions for the finals on 3/21\. Plus, Strong Style Evolved card, Observer Newsletter awards, and more!

On this week's Omakase John is joined by first-time guest Jamie (@JamieOD), longtime runner of the popular English fan blog Dramatic DDT (@DramaticDDT), to preview DDT's biggest show of the year! The two of them break down DDT Judgment from Sumo Hall, DDT's yearly anniversary show, match-by-match, giving you all the storyline information and build-up to help get you hyped. We discuss: the main event, Keiji Muto's possible last match, two packed multi-tag team matches, and more, all the way down through the under (or dark) matches. Plus lots of appreciation for Maki Itoh, the Fired Idol You Can Fight Right Now, Miyu Yamashita, and other Tokyo Joshi Pro ladies. Once that's over we talk a little about the Saki Akai Produce show from this past week (3/14), where Aja Kong had to deal with all of her impersonators and DAMNATION drank much champagne. Finally, we wrap things up with your questions on DDT, including the status of Shigehiro Irie, recommendations for DDT newbies, whether we'd like to see a return of the DDG crossover shows with Dragon Gate, and more! It's all DDT, all the time, this week on Wrestling Omakase!

This week on Wrestling Omakase John is joined by first-time guest Chris Charlton (@reasonjp), author of 2015's _Lion's Pride: The Turbulent History of New Japan Pro Wrestling_ and the forthcoming _EGGSHELLS: Pro Wrestling in the Tokyo Dome_ (@esbooked) to discuss the very topic of his upcoming book! After a brief introduction and some discussion of how Chris has watched the Western puroresu fandom grow as a longtime fixture in the scene, the two of us get into discussing as many of the Tokyo Dome shows over the years as we can! We provide overviews of the many NJPW shows and how their offerings at the Dome changed and evolved from 1989 through present, plus talk the many other non-NJ Dome shows over the years. Everything from SWS to shoot-style promotions like UWF, PWFG & UFO, the famous AJW Big Egg Wrestling Universe, AJPW's trio of offerings, the more infamous Wrestle-1 show, NOAH's two Dome shows, and even a strange Dome appearance from relative obscure joshi promotion Jd' Star is discussed. It's a fun and jam packed nearly two hours on puroresu history in perhaps its most famous building!

If you enjoy the show, be sure to check out the ongoing funding campaign for the aforementioned EGGSHELLS book, which you can find here: http://igg.me/at/eggshells. As we speculated on the show (it was recorded last Friday night), the podcast companion series has already been funded by the time you'll hear this, but there's still time to fund the audiobook!
