  • Ep. 030 - King Arthur (2004)

Fuqua's King Arthur is producer Evan's Dead Silence......'nough said.

He also continuously forgets to mention that Ioan Gruffudd is Lancelot in this movie. Is Evan trying to say something about Gruffudd’s performance?? Mmm. No. He just forgot.

"I know it's a bad movie, but I love it so much."

*Aside: The boys get yet another much anticipated and much appreciated appearance from long-time listener and fan of the show...Jesse Ventura. So, stay tuned for that.

  • Ep. 029 - Tears of the Sun (2003)
    Notes from a deranged viewer:
-Village was destroyed. Bodies in the water. Blood everywhere. Really cool shooting on Helicopters.
    God already left Africa.
-Holy shit! They all left! Clinic is destroyed. Oh wow they macheted the priest. They cut the boobs off moms so they can’t nurse babies. Bruce gets bitched out by his boss. Bunch of them dead now. They seem to be across the border maybe. Nevermind they have to get to a gate.
That’s Tears of the Sun for you. Seriously. Tuck your thumbs into your jeans for this one, because it’s our shortest episode ever, and for a reason. Don’t worry, the fellas make the best of it, but damn...this is a good example of a studio stone-walling a good director’s vision in order to make a shitty action flick that is as tonally disconnected to real-life issues as a Trump supporter is to the struggles of anyone who isn’t white. Also, Paco somehow misses the one Jason-joke that is irreverent enough to bring Paco to his knees, which speaks volumes to how mind-muddling this movie is. But, that’s to come.

  • Ep. 028 - Training Day (2001)

What can we say about Training Day that hasn't already been acclaimed? Basically, the boys talk corruption, Denzel Washington's masterful performance...oh and Paco never hugged his dad...but we'll get to that. We're just happy that we got to watch and discuss a movie that we all love, and also talk about the political relevance between the early aughts and now in terms of police corruption and brutality. It's not our place to discuss much, but the material is there. Also, Rudolph Giuliani tucks his shirt in...and we all know what that means...maybe.

This episode is appended by a pivotal clip from Training Day.

    *Spoilers abound

  • Ep. 027 - Bait (2000)

Hook, line and sinker, y'all. Paco certainly baited all of us into this...this...hoh boy, I don't even want to get into it....so I'll let Jason and Paco do that for me. How does a sophomore (and arguably promising) filmmaker fall so flat where someone like Michael Bay succeeded? Well, let's jump into it with both feet kicking......we still don't know, but there is something there, we promise. *pulls on neck-tie*

  • Ep. 026 - The Replacement Killers (1998)

Welcome to the beginning of our foray into the action/thriller realm of one of the US's most overlooked genre filmmakers, Antoine Fuqua. For his director debut, Fuqua is joined by Chow Yun-Fat (in his American film debut) to bring you the tightest 77 to 84 minutes (depending on which cut you watch) any action film has endeavored, as well as the most plutonic, and possibly problematic relationship between our two leads; for a '90s movie, that is. The fellas are also briefly joined by the legendary Governor from Minnesota, our buddy Jesse Venture as they discuss what it means to be in the 15 percentile to join the debate stage, at the same time that we wish him good luck in his ventures (ha) to come. Congrats for making it this far into the podcast. We're just as baffled as you are...in a good way. We love you. Winky face thumbs up side-eye.

  • Ep. 025 - Wan in Review
Disclaimer: Evan's audio is crackly at times, so we apologize for that...we told them to find a better engineer...but, ya know.
Here it is folks! Our ultimate take on James Wan and his budding brilliance that has brought him into the Hollywood fray. Join Paco, Jason and Evan as they tackle the inner workings of a filmmaker that has shown a primary affinity/prowess for contemporary horror, and who has also exhibited directorial chops for action and drama to a point where it's easy to say that James Wan is just a good director? Someone who is fun to work with, AND who has vision beyond the material given to him? Also, spoilers, it's revealed that Jason has no idea why he loves Dead Silence, but he does anyway...did not expect that...crazy times. Crazy times. Also, Paco accidentally poisons his fiancé in the sweetest way possible...wtf?...you'll find out.
We also want to thank all of our listeners for supporting us this far, and especially through our journey into the Waniverse, and for enjoying James Wan's work as much as we have...more or less.

  • Ep. 005 - Bad Boys II (2003)
The sequel to Bay’s debut film is about blue power, ecstasy, and an awkward Gabrielle Union. Discussion of the deep state Will Smith/Martin Lawrence infiltration to the neo-nazi group, the Base.

  • Ep. 024 - Aquaman (2018)
My man!! No. I'm sorry. OUR man. That's right, we've reached the resolution of our deep-dive into the Wan-verse with one of (I think it's safe to say) the best and most comforting, cozy superhero movies from the DC Cinematic Universe to have come out in decades. Jason and Paco take a big sigh of relief as they delve into Wan's latest film, Aquaman (my man!!). The importance of puppies and respecting their boundaries, especially on a set is approached, the newfound avenue that the DC Cinematic Universe is trying to fall into takes a front seat, and producer Evan has some fun with dropping soundbites. There's even a little Easter egg for those of you who listened to our bonus episode. James Wan, you've done it again. My man!!

  • Ep. 023 - The Conjuring 2 (2016)
James Wan culminates his inspiration to make one more horror film after Furious 7. That movie is...The Conjuring 2...welcome back to sequels. We’re introduced to every Catholic school boy’s nightmare: nuns (namely), defacing bibles (that’s a no-no), stop-motion acting, and puppies with bells. Eeeeeek!! Ultimately, Paco and Jason talk about a sequel that stands up to the expectations of its predecessor without actually letting the viewer down. The break from horror is over, we’ve returned, and it’s actually not all that bad. As always, James Wan for the win. Also, take my hand, baby. Hoo haw!
