AND JUST LIKE THAT WE’RE AT 52 EPISODES!
One for each week of the year. It’s quite something when you think about it.
There are 2 things about the year of podcasting I probably appreciate the most: The first one is the feedback I get from you, the listeners. It truly makes my heart sing! The second one is the interactions I have with my podcast guest. The wisdom....!
So...
I didn’t want Episode 52 to be about me.
Instead, I wanted this 52nd podcast to celebrate the podcast guests who openly shared what happens in the messy underbelly of our businesses. We had copious amounts of skills knowledge. That speaks. But my guests also invariably share the doubts, the constant learning, the process of trialling and failing and pivoting and ultimately ...figuring it out. THOSE are the precious moments.
So, without further ado, here are YOUR FAVOURITE SNIPPETS FROM 5 RECENT GUESTS that are absolute gems.
SAVOUR THEM, AND IF YOU HUNGER FOR MORE (AND I PROMISE, YOU WILL! 😂)

Marketing can be intimidating, confusing, and time-consuming.
BUT IT DOESN’T NEED TO BE.
When I speak with Sunny Logsdon, veteran content marketer with a weak spot for small business, she is adamant content marketing is just as important for small businesses as it is for the big corporates. And it doesn’t need to be the big hurdle it’s made out to be.
All you need is the necessary systems in place to make it easy peasy lemon squeezy.
Added bonus: Sunny is rather good (and patient) in explaining to us, mere mortals, how to do it.
I SAY THIS ONE IS FAR TOO GOOD TO MISS!
So put in the earphones and soak up the wisdom! 👍

Sunny is not only knowledgeable, experienced, and good at explaining. She’s also generous. Her signature program is the 6 week Rise And Repeat cohort in which she helps you implement the wisdom she mentions on the podcast.
But for the BYW podcast listeners, she also offers a FREE marketing audit. So book a call and mention the Business Your Way Podcast!

It makes sense to build a business that makes the most of your skills and talents. After all, that’s when you’ll be at your best.
But as I found out myself, that’s easier said than done. Because WHAT ARE THESE STRENGTHS that should take centre stage in your business?
I turned to Anna Nelson for the answer. And by golly, did she deliver!
Anna Nelson is a 1:1 executive coach who helps entrepreneurs understand what makes them unique. From there, she helps them figure out what their ‘perfect’ business looks like based on their strengths and the strengths of their team.
How that all works is for Anna to explain in this podcast!
True to her own word, Anna designed her business around her strengths. Her superpower? Helping people on a one-on-one basis. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I’ve rarely met anybody who is so easy to talk to. So get in touch with Anna Nelson. Before you know it, you’ll skip your way through the workday (knowing that you’re showing up as your best possible self) with a new friend by your side. (You can hear the background of that story on the podcast!)

Having staff is not always easy.
Technology is: It works, or it doesn’t.
People, on the other hand...
Yet, Justine Parsons from Your Virtual Assistant calls her team her biggest accomplishment in her business, the thing she’s most proud of. 😳
But when you speak with her, it’s also her team who seems to be the answer to whatever problem she’s facing.
To top it off, Justine‘s team seems to stick with her for the long haul, despite the fact that she only hires contractors.
Needless to say, she must be doing something right and I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IT IS.
If a contractor hire has been a lingering (but scary) thought, you should have Justine’s number on speed dial. What started with Virtual Assistants doing admin work, now also includes Virtual Specialists (like a graphic designer or a bookkeeper) or a Virtual Business Manager. It means you no longer to worry about any of the work you can’t, won’t, or shouldn’t be doing. You may just find it’s the best thing since sliced bread.

Usually my life is pretty calm and organised.
Recently, out of nowhere, ... it wasn’t AT ALL!
TEARS, NETFLIX, COMFORT FOOD!
Life sometimes takes a good laugh at what we think is ‘control’.
So when I found myself in a moment of massive chaos and overwhelm, I had to pull out all the strategies and tools I had available to make it out the other end.
Now that I’m catching my breath again, I’m also acutely aware that I’m not alone. Occasionally, we all mutter that ‘Life is hard right now!’
So for every other business owner out there whose life is being rained down by lemons, what better thing to do than feed you all the strategies I had to fall back on when the wheels started coming off in my life.
It may be exactly what YOU need to hear right now!
But don’t worry if at this very moment you can barely remember your surname because of the chaos and overwhelm! I’m here to help you see what you can’t in the moment, coach you through the survival strategies. Together, we can establish what’s important and where your energy should be focused.
Until you too, get to the other end.
Simply head to my website, www.sandrajulian.co and Book a Chat.

You scratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours.
It’s how I would sum up some of the potential answers to a burning need all business owners share.
WHERE DO YOU GO FOR ADVICE AS A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER?
It’s obvious that everybody needs advice at some stage. (Only fools and liars claim to know everything.)
But it’s even more vital when you are a sole proprietor.
So... WHO can be your listening ear, your patient advisor?
It’s a challenge, because NOBODY knows your business like you do. And where do you turn for advice you can TRUST?
Like so many solo business owners, I had to find an answer to this problem many years ago. And I’VE COME UP WITH SEVERAL ANSWERS. Each of them suited me in their own way at different stages of my business journey.
Which one works best for you, is for you to find out after I’ve talked you through the pros and the cons of each option. And of course, I’m sharing my own experience too.👇 Nothing like some real life insight, wouldn’t you agree?
Not sure what your next step is? Totally overwhelmed by the options? Desperate for a fresh pair of eyes on your business? Nobody should go it alone in business. So, if after this episode you’re keen on exploring the option of engaging with me as a Business Coach, you can get in touch on the 'Work With Me' tab on my website.

Ghostwriting? Nailing your founder’s story in one or two sentences in such a way that people get who you are and can’t wait to work with you? Leveraging story in your business?
Are you as puzzled AND intrigued as I am?
I mean, there’s no escaping the storytelling as a marketing strategy narrative, but what can it mean to your business? And how do you do it well, even if writing is not your thing?
Danielle Cook, professional ghostwriter and copywriter, lets us in on her approach. But also, she explains what you can expect if you decide to hire a ghostwriter or copywriter to do the storytelling for you... in YOUR unique voice.
This podcast touches on a very different side of business than what we’ve been discussing in previous podcasts, so I can’t wait to hear what your thoughts are. Do you use storytelling in business? And if not, what keeps you from doing it? I want to find out!

4 STEPS
That’s all it takes to bring in your ideal client. One who appreciates you, pays you fairly, lets you get on with the job, AND returns for more.
SIGH!
Are these 4 steps easy?
If ‘easy’ would be the word that comes to mind, we’d all be doing it from day 1.
BUT I wouldn’t call them ‘hard’ either.
First, of course, you would have to work your way through episode 43, so you know how to create a business that is aligned with your talents and lifestyle choices. (You can find it here https://sandrajulian.co/aligning-talent-and-business)
Once you’ve done that, all you need is clarity, focus, consistency and good communication. But I’m guessing you want me to be a bit more concrete than that? 🤔
I give you: 4 STEPS TO ATTRACT YOUR IDEAL CLIENT 👇
Of course, if after this episode you’re still at large about how to attract your ideal client, we can work on it together. I will walk you through the ‘Business Lifestyle Canvas’ that gives you clarity on your talents, the lifestyle you want to live, who you serve, the problems you solve, your value proposition, your packages, and your values.
You’ll walk away with a 2 page document compromising all the tools that will not only help you attract the right clients but also help you create the business that is perfectly aligned with your talents and your dream lifestyle!
Book a 30-minute chat with me to get your ‘Business Lifestyle Canvas’ under way. (And that IS easy!)

To jump or not to jump, that is the question!
I’m talking about a dilemma that most of us have at least mildly contemplated: Should you turn your passion into a business?
There’s plenty of opinion out there.
Here’s Oprah’s: “Forget about the fast lane. If you really want to fly, harness your power to your passion. Honour your calling. Everybody has one. Trust your heart, and success will come to you.”
But is it really that simple? (I, for one, have thought about it... and rejected the idea of turning my hobby into a business .)
Blaire Brown from Visionary Advantages Brand Strategy Group, on the other hand, made a career out of her passion for fashion.
The outcome may surprise you!
Blaire’s is also the host of her podcast ‘Curate Your Success’.
Her favourite guests are other go-getters who are brutally honest about their mistakes. And as much as it’s nice to hear people’s success stories (I am an encourager at heart!), it’s the mistakes other entrepreneurs make that hold the real lessons.
