The Daily Telegraph’s Miranda Divine joins Michael to talk about the handshake snub Bill Shorten suffered at the hands of workers at a Queensland freight company last week.

She writes “the humiliating footage shows Shorten in high-viz strolling up to a worker in similar attire, arm outstretched for a handshake. The worker keeps his hands in his pockets in an unmistakably Australian gesture of rejection.

“Yeah, see ya, mate,” says the worker, walking away. Shorten tries to rescue the situation by pivoting to another worker. Same response”.

Michael is joined by Professor Ian Plimer, Emeritus Professor of Earth Sciences at the University of Melbourne to discuss a new Lowy Institute poll that finds climate change a "critical threat" to Australia's interests according to almost two-thirds of Australians. 

The report, that’s full details will be released in June, ranks climate change a more serious concern than international terrorism, North Korea’s nuclear programme or cyber attacks.

Jacinta Price, Country Liberal Candidate for Lingiari joins Michael to talk about Greens candidate George Hanna posting on social media an offensive image showing the Aboriginal Warlpiri Country Liberal candidate Price drinking from a coconut with the caption, "It's not every day you see a coconut drinking from a coconut."

Mr Hanna has since apologised for the racial slur but the Greens will take no further action… even though five other candidates have been dumped since the federal election was called due to their posts on social media being deemed racist, homophobic, Islamophobic & anti-Semitic.

Michael is joined by Catherine Port, Sydney Water’s executive drought lead who warns that water restrictions likely to be placed on Sydney households within three months unless dramatic rainfall fills the dams.

Sydney Water is encouraging people to water their gardens before 10am and after 4pm, use a trigger nozzle for their hose and use a broom to clean hard surfaces instead of water.

Ms Port says “It has been the exceptionally dry weather. Over the past 18 months we have had record low inflows into our dams and it has been the lowest since the low 1940s.”

It was reported in the Sydney Morning Herald that ‘mayors across greater western Sydney are being urged to use council zoning powers to design environments that promote healthy lifestyles to confront the obesity crisis gripping their communities’.

Michael talks to Liberal Senator Jim Molan, Former Australian Army Major General - Chief of Operations, Coalition Forces, Iraq about former PM Paul Keating's comments on the weekend about China & Australia’s security agency.

At the Labor party’s launch over the weekend, former Prime Minister Paul Keating claimed Australia’s security agencies are run by a clique of “berko nutters” that just don’t get how wonderful Communist China really is.

All of this forced Bill shorten to qualify his adoration of Keating’s advice just 24 hours later.

Speaking to the media yesterday, a less exuberant opposition leader said “Paul Keating is an elder statement of Australian politics. He’s never been shy of saying what he thinks but we’ve worked very well with the national security agencies and of course we will continue that.

Senator Molan also gives advice on how to vote for him in the upcoming election
