What does timing mean in healthy committed relationships? Timing in relationships pertains to commitment readiness. We all know that relationships take commitment. Committing to work through the rough times, because LOVE is NOT enough.

The truth is, there is never a perfect or ideal time to initiate a relationship. There are different reasons why we might not feel like entering into a committed relationship. Many say that if they are undergoing distressing circumstances in their lives, they cannot commit to someone else. And that makes perfect sense because readiness impacts behavior over various stages of building a relationship. What you should be striving for is to be familiar with the “baggage” that you will bring in the relationship.

Jagtar and Kate share their relationship history and how timing played a huge role in the progression of their relationship.

The eleventh component in C.A.R.T. is TRUST! If there is no trust in a relationship, then there is no point in the relationship.

Trust is built through communication, listening, understanding, compassion, empathy, priority, and setting healthy boundaries. Someone's trust is earned over time but can be lost in a blink of an eye. 

Javi and Ivana share how they have built trust in their relationship by listening, understanding, and having compassion for each other. They have created a safe space for each other to express their insecurities and concerns and have grown and developed a strong foundation in their relationship.

The eighth component in C.A.R.T. is ACCEPTANCE!

Accepting is about knowing that relationships take work and a good understanding of your partner’s differences. Victoria and Gustavo share how their differences have helped build trust in their relationship, but also grow as individuals by challenging each other's mindsets. They have not just accepted, but they have created a healthy balance in their differences. Remaining open-minded helped change their view regarding relationships and strengthened their bond.

This episode is a reflection section of the previous episode with Greg White and the topic of Disney and how Disney and other pop culture movies negatively impacted people's relationships and belief in love in adulthood. Real-life love stories aren't fairy tales and happily ever after, but relationships are up and down, and they take commitment and work from both people. Disney and other movies back in the '90s romanticized codependency and so many relationships have suffered because of it. So much of what we learned and are influenced by in childhood shapes who we are as adults. As adults, we have to rewire our minds and release those beliefs in able to build healthy, interdependent romantic relationships.
