On April 30th, Walmart announced that after five years, it would be closing its 51 Walmart Health Centers. The closure is due to rising costs and reimbursement issues. Walmart Health, which offered urgent care and dental services, aimed to open in every Walmart store. The closure presents opportunities for urgent care clinics to acquire cheap leases, equipment, and recruit new team members. Nick and Michael discuss the lessons to take from Walmart Health, including the need for creativity in expanding services and adapting to changing reimbursement rates. Demand for urgent care remains strong, and clinics can thrive by offering occupational medicine, weight loss, and other services.
