  • 21.07.17 Names – Genesis 17:15-27
Names of people are fascinating and can be very powerful in their implications, can’t they? May I ask, do you know the significance of your name? My name is Douglas and I’ve done some digging and I come up with two very different meanings. One is “dark water” and the other is ‘seeker of light’. Now which do you think I prefer!?  And what about your name, my friend, what does it mean? We’ve been traveling with Abram and Sarai for several chapters in the Bible, and we’ve encountered some very significant names. Let’s take a moment and reflect together.  ABRAM is the man to whom God reached with the amazing invitation to leave his homeland and follow God to a new land, developing a strong trust relationship with God along the way, for God wanted to accomplish some significant things through this man. The name “Abram” means “exalted father”.(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/weekend-edition-17-18-july-2021-names-genesis-1715-27/      Today’s Scripture is Genesis 17:15-27. Choose below to read or listen.Pastor Doug Anderson    262.441.8785  “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? I’m ready to hear from you, contact me here.

  • 21.07.16 The Covenant – Genesis 17:1-14
Good morning my “Walking with Jesus” friends, May I ask, do you know anyone still living who is nearly 100 years old? How would you describe that person? I know one very dear lady who is now 100! She lives in a quaint little cottage she and her husband built many years ago, with their own two hands, with the help of their adult children. She’s Norwegian and has lived in America many years, but speaks English with a very strong Norwegian accent. She actually downhill snow skied just a year or two ago! And oh my, what a woman of great faith and prayer! She is loved and revered by many, many people including my wife and me! If you live to be 100 years old, what will be your legacy? We’re traveling with Abram and today we come to Genesis 17, one of the most important chapters in the Bible.(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/friday-16-july-the-covenant-genesis-171-14/    Today’s Scripture is Genesis 17:1-14.

  • 21.07.15 Hagar – Genesis 16
What do you do when you feel there needs to be a decision made, action taken, and you’ve waited for God, but God doesn’t seem to be doing anything, heaven seems silent? Is there something inside you that reacts when you see procrastination, especially in people who hold leadership positions?  Join me today in Genesis 16, one of the most powerful examples of three people facing this issue. We’ve been traveling with Abram and Sarai and their journey has already lasted more than 10 years. They’ve been developing the ability to discern when God is speaking to them, and follow His instructions. That’s been a learning curve for them as it probably has been for you, and certainly for me!(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/thursday-15-july-2021-hagar-genesis-16/    Today’s Scripture is Genesis 16.

  • 21.07.14 Life Saving FAITH – Genesis 15:6
Have I told you lately how much I appreciate you and enjoy this journey through God’s Word together with you? Today we have a very exciting verse to look at in the Bible! What, only one verse? Well, it’s one of the most powerful, most important verses in the entire Old Testament… so come on, let’s dig in together. Yesterday we looked at a magnificent discussion between God and Abram in Genesis 15:1-5. God was reaffirming His covenant promise that many descendants would come from Abram, yet at age 85 Abram remained childless! God even promised Abram that his descendants would be more numerous than the visible stars in the night sky!!(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/wednesday-14-july-2021-life-saving-faith-genesis-156/   Today’s Scripture is Genesis 15:6.

  • 21.07.13 Respectful Frustration – Genesis 15:1-6
So… where do you go with your complex, difficult, life questions… the ones you’d like to ask God? Have you ever been with someone when they were in a very hard place, and unafraid to boldly ask God really hard stuff? If so, did you wince, afraid maybe lightning might strike or that person might fall over dead with a heart attack? Today, let’s look this issue right in the face. We’re on a journey with Abraham, one of the great heroes of the Bible, and he’s on a steep learning curve about knowing God, living in a full trust relationship with God, and learning how God deals with us, humanity. Today join me in Genesis chapter 15.(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/tuesday-13-july-2021-respectful-frustration-genesis-151-6/  Today’s Scripture is Genesis 15:1-6.

  • 21.07.12 Risk Living – Genesis 14
Have you ever had the experience of someone who has shunned you or shamed you suddenly needing your help? You could ignore them, tell them they deserved the difficult situation in which they found themselves, because they had hurt you, or you could help them… I wonder which you did?  In our journey with Abram we are watching to see how God is shaping a man to be unlike all other men of his era. A man learning to know God, a man living in relationship with God, a man leading his family in submission to God, a man of great faith and integrity. In fact, this type of man is very rare in our day, anywhere in the world, isn’t he?(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/monday-12-july-2021-risk-living-genesis-14/  Today’s Scripture is Genesis  14.

  • 21.07.10 Separation – Genesis 13:5-18
Would you permit a personal note today? This is a special weekend for me. I have the opportunity to return to the small town of my family ancestral roots, which go back to 1892. My immigrant great grandfather helped to birth a church in this little town in 1921, so we return this weekend for the ‘Centennial celebration’. That church sent my parents out to serve as foreign missionaries in the 1950’s and also sent my wife and I to do the same in 1986, and in 2014 that church sent our daughter and her family to a different part of the world, to do the same privileged work… bringing the Gospel of Jesus to far away places and the people who live there.  My father is still living at age 94, and he will be there with us, as will our daughter and family who are coming back from overseas to that small village for this weekend as well. Thus there will be four generations of us together in celebration of what Jesus has done in that town in 100 years, and from that town all over the world! When you consider your heritage, your ‘roots’ may I ask what you see? Of course neither you nor I can take any credit or blame for our family heritage, we were born or adopted into it. But family is very powerful in affecting who we become as adults and what we pass on to our descendants, isn’t that true? (Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/weekend-edition-10-11-july-2021separation-gen-135-18/   Today’s Scripture is Genesis 13:5-18.

  • 21.07.09 Wanderlust – Genesis 12:10-13:4
Do you know anyone who has what some might call ‘wanderlust’? It means they grow tired quickly of where-ever they live and so they move on in search of new adventures in new places. In some parts of the world that simply is not possible, but in other parts of the world, large populations of people choose to live on boats, or in ‘mobile homes’ or ‘RV’s’ or short term rental apartments. All these provide ‘rootless’ living so they can keep moving from place to place whenever they desire. Sometimes vocations require constant moving from place to place, especially when caring for ‘open range’ animals needing pastureland.  These days we are traveling with Abram in Genesis 12 and verse 10 says says “Then Abram set out and continued his journey toward the Negev.” (Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/friday-09-july-2021-wanderlust-genesis-1210-134/    Today’s Scripture is Genesis 12:10-13:4. Choose below to read or listen.Genesis 13Pastor Doug Anderson    262.441.8785  “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? I’m ready to hear from you, contact me here.

  • 21.07.08 Arrival – Genesis 12:6-9
I wonder if you remember your younger days and times when you might have been on a long trip with your family. Regardless of how comfortable or difficult the journey, no matter how long or short, do you remember this question: “Are we there yet?” And how did the adults with whom you were traveling answer…  either telling you how much longer the journey would be, or that you had finally arrived? Remember how you felt if either the journey would be much longer or you were finally arriving at your destination?  We’re traveling with Abram, Sarai, nephew Lot, many animals and herdsman across a hot, rugged landscape. • 21.07.07 Journey to Where? – Genesis 12:1-5
In America, this month of July is the month when more people relocate from one place to another, during the entire year. Sometimes it’s adults pursuing a new job opportunity or families moving before fall school starts for the children. Sometimes it’s retirees moving to new places as they finish their work careers ready to begin a season of life they’ve awaited a long time! How about you? When was the last time you packed up everything and moved to a new place? Remember the emotions of goodbyes and the anxiety, maybe even the worry about what was ahead?  We’ve begun a new journey in our “Walking with Jesus” and you might title these next days, ‘Walking with Abraham and God”.(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/wednesday-07-july-2021journey-to-where-genesis-121-5/    Today’s Scripture is Genesis 12:1-5.
