  • 21.06.24 Two Wisdoms – James 3:13-17
As you watch the unfolding events which are shaping the history of the place where you live, I’m sure you see there are things that happen apparently by accident, and there are things which happen naturally, and there are things which occur as a result of thought, planning, choices, even strategies. But they all join together to form the story of your city, don’t they? So here’s my question: Of those things which happen by the choice of people, especially leaders, what do you conclude about the WISDOM that is being used to make those decisions which are shaping the story of your city? Have you noticed when there is a change in leadership, that often a new leader makes decisions which reverse the policies or decisions of the previous leadership? That happens in politics, athletics, business and even in churches. What do you conclude as you watch that over time? (Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/thursday-24-june-2021-two-wisdoms/   Today’s Scripture is James 3:13-18. Choose below to read or listen.Pastor Doug Anderson    262.441.8785  “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? I’m ready to hear from you, contact me here.

  • 21.06.23 The Tongue – James 3:1-12
Regardless of your age, you and I live in a world which has in recent years seen the most rapid development, in every area of society, in all of human history. So let me ask this question… what is the most powerful and most dangerous weapon in our world at this time? Is it social media able to turn public opinion so quickly? Is it the atomic bomb? Is it cyber criminal attack on a major corporation or an oil supply chain or the banking system? Is it government spy systems? Is it drugs or alcohol or other addictions? May I suggest that while all of those are very dangerous and powerful, could the MOST dangerous be the human TONGUE! Now think about that for a moment!!(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/wednesday-23-june-2021-the-tongue/    Today’s Scripture is James 3:1-12.

  • 21.06.22 Faith–Reputation – James 2:14-26
What do you conclude about a person when what they claim to believe or value is contradicted by their behavior? For instance, a person claims they disdain alcoholic beverages because they have experienced the destructiveness of alcoholism, yet in their home they have a wine rack and a hard liquor cabinet, and they offer drinks to their guests? Or the man who claims to love his wife but flirts frequently and unashamedly with many women?  We’re walking with James, the 1/2 brother of Jesus these days, as we work through his little letter to the first century Jewish Christians across the Roman Empire. In his chapter 2, James deals with this issue of contradiction between belief or claims, and actions. James writes: “What good is it if a man claims to have faith [in God] but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?…faith by itself, if not accompanied by action, is dead.” (James 2:14,17) (Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/tuesday-22-june-2021-faith-reputation/     Today’s Scripture is James 2:14-26.

  • 21.06.21 Mercy – James 2:9-13
On the continuum from lawlessness to perfection, I wonder where you’d put yourself, your neighbors, the political leaders of your country, the spiritual leaders in your city? We so easily fall into the comparison of ourselves to others, don’t we? And of course, we always find at least one person who we believe is more of a sinner than we are, right?  That comparison game has been an albatross around our human necks since the days of Cain and Abel, the sons of Adam and Eve, remember?(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/monday-21-june-2021-mercy/     Today’s Scripture is James 2:9-13.

  • 21.06.19 Favoritism – James 2:1-5
I’m sure you’ve noticed public opinion can swing wildly from one extreme to another, and in our day, when combined with the powerful influence of social media, a movement can be launched overnight. Currently, at least in America, there is a powerful reactive movement against anything that even gives a hint of discrimination, especially related to race or ethnicity or sexual orientation! Equality to the extreme has become the popular pandemic. Think about that statement for a moment… I chose each word carefully and I think it fairly represents the atmosphere today in America. What do you think?  Have you given much thought to what God’s perspective is on all this? Listen: “From heaven the LORD looks down on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God.” (Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/weekend-edition-19-20-2021-june-favoritism/      Today’s Scripture is James 2:1-5.

  • 21.06.18 Do It – James 1:19-27
This morning I’m thinking about a terrible reality that you probably experience often, as I do. People who don’t keep their promises, or people who give advice and then do something very different from the advice they gave. May I ask, how do you protect your heart from being wounded by people like that? (Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/friday-18-june-2021-do-it-james-119-27/  Today’s Scripture is James 1:19-27.

  • 21.06.17 Best Gifts – James 1:16-18
“Father’s Day” is coming up, and I’m sure I don’t need to remind you of that. Children and wives are thinking about what would be appropriate ‘gifts’ to give Dad these days. Sadly, for far too many wives and children, “Dad” is nowhere to be found, or far too often absent from the home scene, or worse yet, he’s there but he’s drunk and disorderly and abusive. “Fatherlessness” and “dysfunctional dads” is one of the great epidemics of disaster in many countries of our world, especially America! Do you see the effects of this disaster in your city?(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/thursday-17-june-2021-best-gifts/    Today’s Scripture is James 1:16-18.

  • 21.06.16 Spiritual Warfare – James 1:13-15
Have you given thought recently to how many people are working very hard to manipulate your thinking and your behavior? Many of them have high paying jobs and sophisticated titles. Some receive extensive training in areas of sales or marketing or advertising or coaching or behavior manipulation. Have you considered how many times EVERYDAY you are deluged with information intended to convince you that you need to do something you hadn’t thought about, like… spend the money in your pocket, or your precious time, in doing something actually contrary to your values! But after their very effective efforts, you are giving serious thought to following their advice?! In contrast to that, can you imagine how Jesus would like to advise you, counsel you, coach you, by the power of His Holy Spirit, about every aspect of your life, guiding you to live your life with no regrets and with great fulfillment, having nothing to hide and everything to celebrate!?(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/wednesday-16-june-2021-spiritual-warfare/    Today’s Scripture is James 1:13-15.

The Summer Olympics are only a few weeks away now, even though delayed one full year, and even this year with much concern about COVID in Japan, the host country. I wonder what your favorite part of the Olympics are? The opening or closing ceremonies, the athletic competition, or perhaps the medal ceremonies when champions are awarded their gold, silver or bronze medals? Did you know there will be awards given in heaven someday and Jesus Himself will distribute these awards? As we continue our journey through the letter James has written to Christians around the Roman Empire, in the first century, we come to these words today in chapter one: ‘Blessed is the person who perseveres under trial, because when they have stood the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.” (James 1:12) Are you someone who is trying to ‘persevere under trial’ my friends?(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/tuesday-15-june-2021-crowns/   Today’s Scripture is James 1:12.
