  • 21.06.13 Perseverance – James 1:2-4
Troubling situations which test our faith in our family or friends, our faith in our own abilities, our faith in government or politics are all around us aren’t they? But what about challenging situations which test our faith in God! What do you do then? We’re beginning a new journey together through the little book of James towards the back of the New Testament of your Bible. As we saw yesterday the author is James the 1/2 brother of Jesus. That means Mary was both their mothers, but you’ll recall Joseph was not Jesus’ biological father! • 21.06.11 Bondservant – James 1
Do you enjoy reading? There’s something special when you begin a new book, or a new chapter in a book isn’t there?  Today we begin a new chapter in our journey through the Bible. But first, we’ll bid farewell to Paul & Barnabas for a while and leave them in Syrian Antioch. Luke reports in Acts 15:35: “But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, where they and many others taught and preached the word of the Lord.” The big meeting in Jerusalem was history.(Acts 15:1-35) Paul and Barnabas had returned to Antioch and were settling in with the group of Jesus followers who had sent them off on their first missionary journey, almost two years before. There was lots of ‘catching up’ to do. Remember, they had no cell phones, no Facebook, no email, no way of sending news back from the places they had visited on their long journey. So when I say lots of “catching up” to do, I think you can imagine.(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/friday-11-june-2021-bondservant/   Today’s Scripture is James 1. Choose below to read or listen.Pastor Doug Anderson    262.441.8785  “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)Have a comment or question about today’s chapter? I’m ready to hear from you, contact me here.

  • 21.06.10 Peace Bearers – Acts 15:22-35
It’s summertime in the northern hemisphere of our world and for many people that means school is out for the kids, summer vacation plans are being made, the ice and snow is gone, and that often means travel. Perhaps the same is true for those of you in far southern places like Australia or the southern parts of the African or South American continents? May I ask, are you a different person when traveling or on vacation, than you are when you are home, surrounded by the familiar and the people who know you? Today let’s look at a special part of the story we’ve been looking at for more than a week.(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/thursday-10-june-2021-peace-bearers-acts-1522-35/   Today’s Scripture is Acts 15:22-35.

  • 21.06.09 Questions – Acts 15:22-35
Do you sometimes struggle a bit finding PRACTICAL application to SPIRITUAL truth?  In the past few days we’ve been looking at a very significant event in history… it’s often called “the Jerusalem council”. It’s recorded for us in Acts 15 and the issue at hand was a big deal, and for some people, very complex and far reaching in its practical application. Remember all the disciples Jesus selected, who later became the apostles taking Jesus’ message to the world, were JEWISH men. They’d all been raised deeply rooted in all aspects of Judaism. Jesus spent almost ALL of His time with Jewish people, in the Galilee region or around Jerusalem. Yet Gentiles (non Jewish people) were responding to the Gospel of Jesus in large numbers, first in Jerusalem, then Samaria with Philip, (Acts 8) then Caesarea with Peter & Cornelius, (Acts 10), and finally with Paul & Barnabas on their first missionary journey. (Acts 13 & 14)(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/wednesday-09-june-2021-questions-acts-1512-21/     Today’s Scripture is Acts 15:12-21.

  • 21.06.08 Birthday – Acts 15:8-11
When we celebrate our human ‘birthday’ we are celebrating something that launched our lives on this earth BUT you, and my friend and all of us have no recollection of our birth! We know it happened because we are alive, and we have a document called a ‘birth certificate’, which has a date, time and probably our finger or footprint… but the event itself is known first hand, experientially, only by our human mother who birthed us. We experienced it but of course we have no memory of that experience.   But what about the second most important experience for a human being in their life. . . our ‘regeneration’, our being ‘born again’ by God, when a person trusts in Jesus Christ to be their Savior?(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/tuesday-08-june-2021-birthday/    Today’s Scripture is Acts 15:8-11.

  • 21.06.07 My Transformation – Acts 15:5-9
Yesterday we ended our time together in Jerusalem about 2000 years ago. A very important meeting was taking place, described for us in Acts 15. Paul & Barnabas, and some Jesus followers from the Syrian Antioch church, had come to Jerusalem to meet with the apostles, elders, and other leaders regarding what had been happening among the Gentiles in modern day Turkey, in response to Paul & Barnabas bringing the Gospel of Jesus to that region of the Roman Empire, for the first time. As Paul & Barnabas had given their report in Jerusalem, it was initially well received, but then a small group of Pharisee Jesus followers had stood up in objection. For them, strict obedience to the laws of Moses was critical to living a life acceptable to God.(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/monday-07-june-2020-my-transformation/    Today’s Scripture is Acts 15:5-9.

  • 21.06.05 Clarity or Crumble – Acts 15:4-6
An important weekend if you live in Europe or North America, do you know why? This weekend 77 years ago the greatest invasion in history took place as Allied forces by land, air and sea, crossed the English channel to the very well fortified coast of France, in the D-day invasion. It was probably the bloodiest single day of combat in history…beyond description or our imagination. Thousands died that day. But that day began the retreat and eventual demise of the Nazi attempt to dominate the world and eradicate from the world all Jews and Christians. I wonder how different the place where you live would be if D-day had been a failure?(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/weekend-edition-05-06-june-2021-clarity-or-crumble/    Today’s Scripture is Acts 15:4-6.

  • 21.06.04 Truth War – Acts 15:1-3
Have you ever been called to account for something really good that you were doing? Have you ever had an experience where you felt strongly God was leading you to do something but others, including some of your friends or elders, were not in agreement? Increasingly, in our world today, knowing and living God’s truth, more and more invites criticism in most parts of our world, perhaps where you live? More and more people of all races, educational backgrounds, vocational pursuits, economic status, are being called to account and confronted if they hold to God’s truths, live their lives according to God’s truths, and verbally speak against the distortions of God’s truths, which are permeating every society in the world.(Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/friday-04-june-2021-truth-war/ Today’s Scripture is Acts 15:1-3.

  • 21.06.03 Antioch Amen – Acts 14:21-28
May I ask you an important but personal question? Who are some of the people in your life who have encouraged you along the way, especially when you have been going through hard times? And today, June 2021, who are those you know you can count on to encourage you when you need it? And what about this… who are those who ‘strengthen’ you in your journey of life? There’s a difference between ‘encourage’ and ‘strengthen’ isn’t there? And finally this… who are the people who ‘encourage you to remain true to your faith in God’?  I ask these questions because of this statement which we looked at yesterday: “…they (Paul & Barnabas) returned to Lystra, Iconium and Pisidian Antioch, strengthening the disciples (followers of Jesus) and encouraging them to remain true to the faith.” (Click here to see full text, images and links)Or  copy and go to this link: https://walkingwithjesus.ddawj-365.com/thursday-03-june-2021-antioch-amen/    Today’s Scripture is Acts 14:21-28.
