Have you ever considered doing the Inca Trail but feared you might miss out on seeing other important sites of natural beauty in Peru? Or maybe you tried getting passes for the Inca Trail but found that you couldn't get passes for it anymore? Well don't fret; there are other exciting options for you adventurers.

In May 2019, Jarrett and Linda finally made the decision to return to Peru to hike to Macchu Picchu. With only a month to go before their trip, they could no longer get passes for the Inca Trail, but that turned out great. Instead, they embarked on the Salkantay-Santa Theresa trek.

In this episode, Jarrett and Linda tell you why they chose this journey, what to look for when looking at different touring companies, and about the company they went with, Llama Path. They tell you about their itinerary and how they prepared for the trip. The only bad thing about this episode is that you won't be able to travel to Peru right away!

In August 2020, Jarrett and Linda talk about their trip to Old Tunnel State Park, located in Fredericksburg, Texas.  They got to see some cool Mexican free-tailed bats come out of the tunnel and fly out into the Texas skyline.  Old Tunnel is an old railroad tunnel built from private funding so that locals could make quick trips from Comfort, TX to Fredricksburg, TX.  The rail line went out of business in 1942 and the land was purchased by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in 1991. Finally, this park is the smallest state park at 15-acres and .5 miles of hiking trails.

Jarrett and Linda visited the Leander Dinosaur Tracks out in the riverbed of the South San Gabriel River. Thanks to Google and a young boy who kept his distance, Linda and Jarrett were able to locate 12 tracks left by an acrocanthosaurus, a carnivorous dinosaur thought to have looked like a smaller version of the T-Rex. Aside from seeing the tracks, this part of the San Gabriel River offers a relaxed setting in which to go for a swim or do some fishing. Just don't expect to find restrooms or benches there, as it is not a formal park of any kind.

Jarrett and Linda went on a date at Berry Springs Park and Preserve. On a quiet Friday evening, they visited this picturesque site in the outskirts of Georgetown, Texas. Before the arrival of American colonizers, this site was home to the Tonkawa Native Americans and was visited by other tribes frequently, such as the Apache. In 1846, John Berry built a gristmill in the area. Although the gristmill is no longer present, visitors can see a historic homestead, a damn built for the gristmill, and a small family cemetery in which the Berry family was buried.

A perfect place for a quiet meditation or yoga session, this site offers peaceful water streams, a multitude of (labeled) native flowers, trees, and shrubs, and singing birds. During their visit, Linda and Jarrett ran across a duck, dragonflies, and even a water snake! Listen to this episode to hear more about what Georgetown's hidden gem has to show you.

Jarrett and Linda camped at Goliad State Park in south Texas. Remember the Goliad? That's the place where about 450 Texian prisoners of war were killed in 1836 by the Mexican army under General and President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna's command during the Texas Revolution. The Goliad city and State Park are situated by the San Antonio River. Spain established the town in 1749, which makes it one of the oldest settlements established by westerners in Texas.

Goliad State Park is not currently heavily inundated with visitors and offers an excellent option for paddling on the San Antonio River, which of course, Jarrett could not resist. So right before the Fourth of July weekend, Jarrett and Linda packed up their tent and took BeeGee and Angela along for the ride. In this episode, Linda tells us about their camping experience. At the same time, Jarrett talks about his experience rafting down the Goliad Paddling Trail and any advice he might have for those seeking adventure.

Jarrett and Linda went pack rafting in Lake Georgetown. "But, what is pack rafting?" is probably what you're asking yourself after reading that short sentence. Well, don't worry!
